The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have some shanko Morita shells on the way and need to find either airsoft Mini-14 and M37 Ithaca Shotgun, or replicas of each.

Been doing the google but it seems like I am getting some much trash back it almost a drag to search, and so far it is looking like neither of those airsfots is being made currently.

Was hoping you guys might have a lline or advice on my search!

Thanks!

n/m searching m14 and ithaca shotgun instead of m37 has waaay better results....doh! I know an M14 is not a Mini 14, but the look is nearly identical, and it will work for this morita replica build.

Yeah went with a Long Version M14 Sniper, and a KTM Ithaca Shotgun, a little spendy but well worth it for my Morita Build.

It's a big shell, they had to shim a lot for the mini, if it doesnt I'll just either keep it as an airsoft or sell it to someone at a great price! But I was reading in another article where a guy used an M1, so I am hoping I am fine. ;-p

Hi Rick,

Did you receive your Morita shell ok? ... And most importantly does the airsoft M14 action fit?

Cheers.

John. :)

I just recieved it today, the m14 will fit, but you have to remove the gearbox motor, and do som hack and slash to the bolt return lever below the barrel to fit in the m37. I decided to go with a AC556 cast reciver I have that is actually screen used from Starship troopers, and a KMT M37 Police. I mostly wanted to put guts in for weight since I dont airsoft, but I'll have to make do. What I wouldn't do for a damn airsoft Mini 14!!!

You might want to check the Marushin M1 Carbine. Might be the right size to replace a Mini 14.

Cheers,
Stefan

I'll shceck it out the KTM M14 is would fit if I took the gearbox motor off and chopped the bolt return rod to accomodate the ithaca up front, dont want to chop it up that much.

The Mini-14 and the M14 are two different beasts. The receiver of the M14 is quite a bit larger.
I originally was going to use one in my Space: Above and Beyond M590 rifle, but the dimensions
are just too different.

How do you like the Morita rifle shell? Has he stopped fiberglassing the rifle barrels and magazines? :)

the mags and barrels suck. But he did a really nice job on the shells themselves, they were trimmed almost perfect, and I have to yet fins a air bubble. Changed my mind on the M37 feather wiehgt and got an M37 Police so I dont have to bother with painting the pump handle. Kind of mulling around working on it tonight, but a little burnt out from work.

WELL HELL! The M37 is too wide to fit as well, I am guessing it is not exactly 1/1 or shankos molds aren't quite screen accurate. So if anyone is interested in owning a feather weight M37 and/or a M37 Police I will most likely be sticking them on the PX. bleh!

Matsuo has the resin M37 available I believe. I know it's not airsoft, but...

I wonder how hard it would be to rework the shells to actually FIT the airsoft versions. You'd have to
widen everything of course, and possibly rework the "stock" section of the shell to house the M14. It
wouldn't be screen accurate... but it would be functional.

And yes, I've thought about this before. :)

it would have to be a complete rework, the walls wont stand up to much grinding on the exsisting shell.
Just PM'd matt over at new RPF to see what he's got.

Damn! Sorry to see you're having so much trouble with the project Rick. A working airsoft Morita would be fantastic! 8)

Hope you manage to get something together one way or another, functional or not.

All the best.

John. :)

Matt has an account here too you know. :)

Matt had Mini 14 castings at one point, and of course the M37. I have one of the latter and it's quite nice.
I put a piece of fuzzy side velcro on the inside of the pump grip to provide positive tension against the mag
tube so you can "rack" it, without it being loose and floppy. :)

A great replica for SST or Aliens fans.

Hey Russ, could you give me a side to side measurement on the M37 Reciver. that is the spot on the airsoft where it's too fat.

I'll try and get that for you after I get home.
