The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Not sure whether this is a new product or just new to this retailer but thought I'd mention it:

Nope, not a new product. It's been out for a few years now, and has even been recast (with permission) by another
airsoft manufacturer, UHC.

UHC's versions are made in Taiwan under license by KOBA. They cost about 1/2 as much as the Japanese version. They 'might' shoot with higher velocity than KOBA's version, considering UHC are makers of CO2 powered pistols. At the very minimum, the UHC version should have a heavy duty spring'ed valve designed to handle top-gas, because this is what Taiwanese shoot mostly.

The fastest I've been able to get my KOBA VP-70 to shoot is around 270-280 FPS up from around 200 FPS stock, and that's after using top-gas, upgraded KOBA heavy-duty valve, and upgraded Shooter's Design metal slide (wouldn't recommend trying top-gas with a plastic slide and the standard KOBA valve). UHC's metal .45's shoot upwards 350 FPS, some say as fast as 400FPS which is insance for a pistol.

All the reviews I've read have put the UHC Vp70 at 300-330 fps on Green Gas (propane.) In fact, I'm trying to get hold of one right now, if I can just get my Marui M9 sold. :P

Where did you score your metal silde set ? I know they've been sold out for a while. May have to start taking names of commitments to convince Shooter's Design to do more .. AND this time with the VP-70Z markings and not the "M" model. Just have to work out how to do the Z model grip frame next ..

As FIDO already knows, we are slated to develop the vac. form version of our armor sets after we get the fiberglass line completely remolded and moved up market to aluminumized gel coats. The specks call for using industrial grade clear polycarbonate sheets thermal vacuum formed on heavy-duty industrial grade machines that have draw depths that are incomparable to home-made or even consumer light duty machines, this along with snap-back technique, we will be able to transfer each minute detail on our FG sets onto the vac. form sets. These will be the entry level armor sets from us that are going to be indestructable AFA taking pounding and BB hits at any velocity. That's the plan .. ;)
