The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Post subject: Will a Tokyo Marui metal upper fit a real Thompson lower?

I'm looking for a metal airsoft Thompson upper to mate with a real Tommy gun lower. I can't find pics online of the bottom side of the Marui upper. I understand that some mods could be required, but overall dimensional differences would be a no go. Anyone have insight or experience with this? Thanks.

I suspect there may be size differences which will make marrying uppers from Japanese replicas to original lowers as the Japanese replicas are made in metric…

Thank you for the information. I haven't been able to find a metal Tokyo Marui and am now considering that the expense wouldn't be worth it for experimentation purposes.

For a stand-in, I have acquired a 1:1 resin copy that fits my lower and also fits a real working M1A1 bolt group. The issue is that I don't think it's durable enough to hold the weight of the barrel assembly.

I also have one of those solid aluminum uppers that can't fit a bolt group; so it's a bit of a trade off.

You could try a 3d print. The Paul's Boutique 3d files are pretty good.

Has anyone mucked about with a Denix Thompson (looks like they only do a 1928 version, which is annoying, but not "un-fixable").
I think I've read that the Denix is slightly over-sized? Still, it's a possible metal option, even if it's probably made of 'pig-iron'.

Are the cybergun/King Arms thompsons not just clones of the Tokyo Marui? They are really easy to find.

I've been meaning to touch up some parts on a pulse I made from a cybergun. I'll post picks of the upper's underside in this thread soon.

A bit pricey just to poach the upper from, but you may also consider the WE-Tech GBB thompson. All pretty heavy metal. Not sure if the additional blowback function internals would cooperate with a real one though. Still easier to find than a tokyo marui.
