The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

If you mod the SPAS as mentioned here:
http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=2156
A Maruzen 870 fits inside no problem, its tight but it does fit.

With this extre cut to the S.P.A.S cage to allow the M870 Trigger guard and a little force on the S.P.A.S cage the M870 will slide in.

The Pressed steel is very strong and it would be very hard to change it shape.

Here a photo on one I did. Also there a little notch also that for the switch to allow for the racking of the shotgun.

Also here a great photo of the screw's I made to line the M870 inside the S.P.A.S cage. The Screw screw into the pin that holds the trigger guard to the body of the M870.

Hello Hirohawa.

Due to the fact there is no ref point or datum for the G/L to measure from I could not cut or machine any thing as it could of been too short or long.

So I needed a fixed ref point or datum to come off.

So I used the slot in the S.P.A.S cage the the pin on the M870.

Co I know what to cut off the M870 and also were the cage would be on the M1A1.

I used the pin from the M870 but drilled and tap a M3 through the middle of the pin and made up two screws that are flush with the S.P.A.S cage and same 5.95mm Dia head to fit the S.P.A.S cage slot.

The Screw are against one end of the slot and keep the height of the M870 level and when rack forward in stops the M870 moving forward.

With out this simple pin what too long or too short and were does the M870 sit inside the cage!!!!

As a Engineer I work from drawings with a datum. All the work done with PR is from Datum's to make sure everything lines up.

I hope this helps.

Plus I have a few photos of all parts of the PR so anyone needs a photo just ask.

Data,

Would love to see Photos. The biggest challenge/fear I have is cutting up my real Spas cage.

Let's try not to make my build thread turn into the how to fit a Maruzen into the SPAS thread. As I mentioned, I got mine to fit properly using the 'correct' cuts on the SPAS cage, and the additional minor channel on the side of the M870. I see in your pictures that the SPAS cage bends out quite a bit and that to me is undesirable personally.

I'll try to get my thread back on topic tomorrow with a photo of my G/L. I keep meaning to get around to taking pics.

I haven't updated the blog yet (will do that today as well) but here's some photos until then:

I didn't get around to finishing the SPAS cuts for the ejection port or the racking arms and the M870 trigger guard still needs to be cut down. But that shouldn't take much time at all. Enjoy.

Dont forget, do not remove the trigger guard completely.
If this is the Maruzen 870 (dont know about the Tanaka) then you need to keep some of the guard in place.

Cheers

Update:

Image

Things are fitting together perfectly. I just want to adjust the SPAS cage (and with it the barrel vent) back about 1/8-1/4 inch. I should only have to trim a bit more off the front of the M870 trigger guard to accomplish it. Once I slapped it together with the metal plate in front of the mag well I noticed I didn't trim enough.

Anyway, thought this shot was worth an update. I posted details to my blog with more shots.

Thanks, I updated the blog again with some nice photos of the LED counter installation. I gave credit to lear60man for inspiring my wire routing. Here's one of the photos:

Nice Build!

I've got the original SD Studios PR Kit about 4 yrs ago and just getting around to putting it together. Real life, kids, long story etc.

Question. I have the Spas cage already precut for the shell ejection port for a Rem 870. Will the Maruzen 870 line up the same?

Sorry for not replying sooner, I'm not sure, but I would think it should line up the same. I cut my SPAS cage using the same template as people putting a real Remington in their. So, I say (with no expertise) 'yes'.

Also, I received DATA's airsoft parts yesterday. I put them together and updated the blog. Here's a sneak peak:

I should have the SPAS pump grip connected to it soon, and finally be able to move on to painting all the parts for final assembly!

Amazing stuff  I wish i could build a PR like this, i doubt i'd get half the parts through customs !
Will have to settle for a G&P or HCG.
