I recently got back from attending the Joelanta Show in Atlanta through one of my other interests namely 1/6th scale figures. The show is organised by some friends of mine and although originally started as a G.I. Joe and Action Figure Collectors Show it has gradually expanded to encompass other elements of Pop Culture and this is something the organisers would like to encourage and expand upon. Besides the Action Figure stuff there are also some Costumers, mostly Joe related, and they also have autograph signings by some of the Zombie actors from The Walking Dead.
During the show I mentioned the Colonial Marines and they said they would love to have a Marine/Xeno presence as part of their expansion. So if anyone would be interested in attending next years event you can find out more about the show on their website at

In conclusion this show is presently only a fraction the size of Dragon Conn right now but they want to keep growing so if you start going now and it keeps on growing you will always have bragging rights that you were in at the beginning!
