The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Dragon Con hotels use a group booking website called Passkey which is meant to handle the volume of traffic and bookings. It doesn't.

My final score is three.

The cancelation terms are unusually good:

Quote:
One full night deposit will be taken 90 days prior to arrival, which will be approxiamately the last week of May, based on your arrival date.

Cancel Policy - Cancels prior to June 1, 2014 have no penalty. Between June 1, 2014 and August 1, 2014, 50% of the deposit will be retained for any cancellations. After August 1, 2014, your full deposit will be retained for any cancellations.

Processed the payment and confirmed 5 times...timed out each time.
Anyone need two roomies?

Every year it gets worse...getting to the point of not bothering.
Glad you had success. Anyone else?

It died on me both times. I entered my credit card info and when it went to confirm it stated my reservation had already been made. Yet no confirmation email. I hate Passkey more an more. Guess we will wait and see if the Sheraton opens any more rooms up.

Would love to get a room at the Hyatt but for now have an overflow room just down the street.
Not much cheaper and parking is the same price....just a little walk.

I know it might be late but anyone looking for a room might want to try the Best Western At Peachtrees. It's the same if not shorter walk to Hyatt, kinda behind the liquor store across from Hyatt. I got a room at end of september, as far as prices it was $199 for all days except Fri-Sun and those were $239.

It looks like those rooms have sold out. How advisable is it, to get a room a little farther from down town? It may be a small drive, less than 10 miles. Has any one else done this?

I did it the year before last and it was fine for us other than carrying bunch of stuff to and from the car.
We stayed at an LQ about 8 miles north on 75 for about $80 a night and drove in.
Parking about 2 blocks from the Hyatt (nearer the aquarium) was about $10 a day but it's open and you slot the money into the mailbox with your parking spot number on it (nothing high tech).

If you're not costuming or partying late into the night it's a very cheap way of doing the con, but of course you miss the evening events but if you're having to carry anything back and forth it's a royal pain in the a$$ as it's all uphill to the hotels.
