Due to licensing problems the Aliens encounter at the NSC has ben cancelled. However there is still a regular drop at this event on the evening of Saturday 31st October The intention is to have Mr Harry still display his costumes and props for the evening and (pending commitments) Trevor Steadman and Terry English to do a talk / sign / have a chat, and still have the movie. Hotel rooms are still on offer for any UKCM members working the event for the Saturday night (yes you will be sharing) New ready line below: if you need accommodation say on the ready line as this needs to be booked ed ASAP. |

As the organiser of the event I thought I would come straight to the source and let you know what is happening. We are pulling the encounter part of the event as there has been a problem with licensing this part of the evening. Of course this is a massive shame but it completely beyond our control. The rest of the evening will be going ahead as planned and if you are still game it would be great to have some characters around the building interacting with our guests. At the minute we are keeping it as the 31st Oct and I will be letting guests know about the cancellation later today, hopefully we wont have too many drop out of the event altogether. If demand continues we may release the Friday night as well. I am booking hotel rooms this week. Sorry for all the hassle but i hope we can still make the event fantastic. |

It's hard enough justify driving two hundred miles for a full day's event but for just the evening, you end up spending more time on the road than you did at the event. |

I cannot justify the 6 hours on the road to get down to the NSC for just an evening, let alone the 6 hours back. It's just not viable. |

Indeed. When we used to do the AE during the day, for two days, with an evening of socialising in between... That was well worth it. But even last year's event was pushing it in terms of distance and cost versus actual enjoyment ( As, fun as it is, the AE is hard work, and a big part of the attraction of the weekend for many is socialising with the friends they only see at cons after the work is done! ). Only a few hours actually in there means it's outright not worth the expense and travel. |

Unfortunately we might need to cancel as well. My contract unexpectedly finished in August and I was hoping to have a new contract by now. At this moment in time I cannot justify the cost of travelling and staying over for any event. This is why I have not attended any drops recently. We are both very disappointed that we cannot go as we were looking forward to meeting everybody again and making new friends. I even re-built my armour for the event so I have not got an opportunity to show it off. If my circumstances change I will let you know and hopefully we will able to come. Sorry again |

Due to my medical condition i won't be able to attend so 577-ops - AKA Frank will be the UKCM go-between at the event. Don't forget it is still a 'working' event and we are getting both free entry and accommodation so i would ask that if Frank requests your help in providing assistance for the NSC or their staff that you will oblige. if you need assistance on the night Frank is you first port of call. |

Sorry guys looking at this logically and financially, i've been offered overtime at work which i need to take, so we need to drop out. If the event was still two days we could have perhaps still done one of them, but i'll be working the friday morning till 2pm + 4 hours travel for maybe 5 hours in suit and 4 hours back for work the next day is abit much.
