The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yet another Expo ... :) At this point, we have no table and changing space is unlikely.

Any hotel that permits more than two people per room is already booked up apparently. Should we go for the pokey Custom House hotel again, or consider booking the Beckton Premier Inn again?

It's been a while since I did an expo, so I'll bow to the opinions of those with more recent experience.

I take it the managed apartments next door are all booked, too?

Many are booked, others are crazy expensive, even per person.

I think the Beckton Premier Inn would be good as parking is free and one car can take all the weapons in the under ground car park.

The real action is outside were it's cooler and plus have a little drink !!!!

Beckton Premier Inn has cheaper food and drink and we can sit down !!!

I vote Beckton Premier Inn for these reason.

I that's the case I will book a few rooms now !!!!

Actually booked a Pontins for me, ex and kids, within easy travel of Expo. A shade over £300 for the weekend Fri-Mon, (may be cheaper if you can cut deals closer) and sleeps seven.

Hoping to attend either this or the LFCC Winter (5/6 Oct) - haven't spotted a thread on that one yet, is it a no-go..?
Think I'd enjoy MCM more anyway - there's much more people watching to be done! (Although certain marines didn't seem to be lacking eye candy last weekend!)

We'll probably be heading to both LFCC and Expo in October. I should really get a thread started for LFCC.

OK - I'm currently free for all of both but can't imagine it will stay that way! May try to do a whole weekend for one and just a day for the other, depending on what else crops up (which will be a family birthday, at minimum)

Ok people.

Just checking the Premier inn website on the beckton hotel.

For the twin or family room it will cost £278.00 Premier Flexible Amend up to 1pm on arrival day.

This is for 25th Friday night of October and 26th Saturday night of October.

So if four people share the family room it will cost £69.50 each.

I thought I let people know they are not getting cheaper!!!!

I'll probably be there with the Garrison as per usual.

Oh the joys of having a camper van! No need for any of this expensive hotel business.

If you need anything from me closer to the time, just shout up.

By the way, does anyone have any insight into the new entry policy, and the supposedly rigorous enforcement of the existing weapons policy?

MCM won't be drawn on weapons - there is plenty of weasel words that remain in the policy: It says both that groups won't get any special exemption from the policy AND that they reserve the rights to grant exemptions to anyone for any reason. I will email again and let you know if I hear anything more committal.

I would recommend that everyone works on the worst-case premise that we will all need to queue and pay for entry, and that prop weapons will not be permitted.

I'll probably have to head off early Sunday morning again, expo always clashes with another show for me!!!

Chef, where do you park your camper? I'll probably bring my dads camper van this time, just not to sure how the Excel management would react to me living in their car park :p

Has something changed since the last one? They were selling samurai swords to all and sundry!!

See what they come back with, finger crossed for a table again :delta:

That's the main thing that has changed - specifying that weapons sold within the show must be kept in their packaging.

Annoyingly, the latest rules pdf (from May 2013 if I recall) has either been replaced or taken down, and I can't find any version newer than Feb 2012 now. I will enquire. Again ... :)

Steve, theres been stuff blowing up all over FaceAche regarding the replica weapons policy at Expo, in a nutshell they have always turned a blind eye to their own policy, but due to apparent incidents at the last one, they are now supposed to be following the policy to the letter - basically no pulse rifles unless there brightly coloured.

G, that seems to be the typical sort of response from MCM nowadays - contradictory. Ive got a cached copy of the 2013 rules if you want them.

Rob, just as an aside, have the garrison had any contact from MCM about this? I realise the age old 'is the E11 a 'scifi ray gun' or a SMG with some rubber bits on' would apply here but it would be interesting to here if anything has been arranged.
