The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

yeah, the longer you leave it, the more expensive they get...as they know they'll fill up.

I forget, did we/you decide on what hotel your going to? I know a few are going to be crashing on G's floor (Mmm comfy!) :D But I dont know London all that well and there are SO many places to stay it makes my brain sizzle! Id like to stick close to where people are going to be and close to the Excel itself? Any suggestions before I start booking things?

Most of the hotels around the Exel center were booked up last year as there is a big medical conference on the same time. Closest i got was one stop down the DLR line, But i believe that hotel (Premier inn) is full too now. I think some got a hotel at Greenwhich is on the DLR, but mean a change of line to get to Exel.

Best bet is looking at hotels close to the DLR lines, preferably the line that goes to Exel to avoid any changes. But it doesnt really make much difference. There are quite a few hotels around Canary Wharf which you might find somewhere.

Think I'm coming down for the may expo, not that I know anyone but it would be nice to finally meet others off this board.

If your in costume you won't need to book tickets. However, the amount of wristband we get is never a certainty, so bring money and be prepared for the possibility of having to buy a ticket on the door.

I'm working on the Friday so I can't go to the show (but I can do the Friday evening activities ...). However, I can get out of work early and/or come home to let you in and give you spare key etc, so you'd be very welcome to arrive on Friday.

Looks like me and my sis would only be doing the one day :? Alot of the hotels have been booked up and others are asking stupid money for just the one night, and travelling there an back again twice carrying lotsa crap don't strike our fancy  I have to take Helen into thought as she doesn't have much cash to spend in the first place. I will keep looking around but it don't look hopeful :( which sucks a bit as was looking forward to meeting up with everyone again.

Docklands is in south London though ...

If you're willing to do a Tube journey of that length then I'd imagine there are plenty of cheap Travelodges near Tube stations that would remove the need for a 20 mile drive.

The "Wembley" Travelodge near my home is also a ~1hr long Tube ride to get to ExCeL as it is from Edgeware but without the drive.

I havent looked, but the Tune hotel in central london might have some rooms going. Its one of those so basic it hurts hotels. Good beds, small rooms and you bring everything else, like towels, toilettries etc.
Its already on the south bank, so much closer than Luton!!!

It's easy but expensive. Without using Google, I can't recall the cost but expect £10+ a day.

I will probably be driving.

Will be good to see you Chris. I'll try to let you know where I park and how much it costs. It'll probably be the car park under ExCeL.

Think the Wall crew are out for this one. Seeing as most people are doing a commute it'd be less conducive to shenanigary! Big blowout for the Oct Expo then!

the parking is easy and well signposted. As i said before, when i got there at 9am saturday last year, there were half a dozen cars in the carpark (even though there are thousands of spaces). i believe it was £15 all day, then about an extra £7 if you want to leave it overnight as well.
