The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just got back from Mem and wanted to say what a great time I had. It was real good meeting online folks, some for the first time, some again.
As this was my first costuming event (marine scout/sniper) i'd like to thank all the other 'rines and bug for making me feel welcome.
Special mention goes to our Bug, Gareth, aka photo-whore or PEAV (Person of Easy Audio-visual Virtue) for allowing himself to be chained to various marines and suffering(enjoying?) the advances of certain celebrities.
Gareth, as a wannabe PEAV I need you(or anyone) to send me details of where to get a bug costume kit as i've been bitten by the bug bug(pun intended).

Also to Sandy(token Trekkie) aka Sandy-san aka Sandy-three-cameras ("just one more camera to go") for taking most of the pics of during our celebrity-hunt.

Speaking of which can the owners of all three cameras send me the pics (sidewinder(at)dachande.co.uk)

Also to Paul our occaisional leader and organiser for screwing up the evening meal/taxi bookings and thereby avoiding us having to go to the all you can eat scrum-fest and ending us up in a nice Chinese resteraunt!
Thanks to Becky(?) for being our token female at said meal.

Thanks to ADC for bringing the Alien Encounter DVD and doing such a bang-up job on it!

Simon aka Donald Sutherland aka Oddball (wanna see my other dog impression?)

P.S. Rev, I got your PR and will look at it early this next week.
Anything that, in happening causes itself to happen, happens again.

Next year, I'm gonna try to make every damn event I can ( Well, except any that clash with MY wedding :) ).

I had a great time at the show, loads to see, lots of way too expensive stuff to drool over and some great people to chat to.

I wish I could have stayed overnight and gone out for some beers, but unfortunately I had to get back home.

It was really nice catching up with everyone, and at last I've had a proper look at Karls Firefly collection.......it's outstanding.

There seemed to be more than usual in the way of exhibits at this show, Bond cars, Dr Who Car, FAB-1, Firefly Exhibit, etc.

Lots of costumed characters walking around as well, seems the show has had a bit of life injected into it since the last time I went.

Harry, what do you think the chances are of getting the Aliens collection exhibited at Memorabilia?

That would be very cool. :D

Part of me wished I'd brought my marine gear with me and done some grunting, it looks like you guys were having a blast!

It was great to see that Gareth and the Marines were getting as much, if not more, attention as the Stormtroopers were.

Very heart warming! :)

Hope everyone had a great time on the Sunday and you all got back home safe and sound.

Roll on the next one.

Cheers,

Andy.

Not long got back and had a great time again. Good to see all the old faces again and meet Burnt Kona for the first time.
We all had a blast at the event and the evening out was "really raucous" (that's right yeah guys?) ;)
A big thanks to ADC for turning up at 12:30 in the morning at the hotel with his projector to give a private sceening of the NSC event on Mantroon's hotel bedroom wall (and for bringing some beers with him)

My pics of the event are online here. You'll have to excuse some of the shots as they were pretty dark and I've tried to lighten them up a bit.

Hope to see everyone again soon.

Cheers

Darren

Just got back home.

It was great to see everyone again although I kind of missed hanging out with you guys all the time - I really should get myself a costume! You all looked great and it seemed you were a huge hit with the crowd.

Oh and gareth, thanks for kissing me hello (as the Alien I hasten to point out!), that was KY-Jelly all over the Alien's mouth wasn't it? Ewww!

Best report in that I've made it home. Really was a fantastic time, and the reception we got from the public and the celebs was just blinding. It's odd the celebs coming up to you to have there picture taken.

Depsite my PR falling apart on me by the end of the frist day, I really had a great time, and it was brilliant meeting you all. I'm still uploading pictures now, so I'll post a link in a bit.

So, whens the next one?

Well, what a fab event.

I had immense fun strutting my stuff as the token Trekkie. The best thing about that was that I could strut my stuff and not get bothered for a photo 8)

I spent most of the later part of Saturday looking like a japanese tourist, festooned with cameras. All I needed was a Kodak to complete the look!

Would have been great to be in armour and actually be in some of these photos for once, but alas. Will have to be content with being the chauffeur, pack mule, photographer, food fetcher and general lackey 8) ;) Not that it isn't fun.

It was great to see you all again and I hope I get to do so again soon.
Special thanks to ADC for the preview of the NSC video! Well worth the wait folks!

I am *just* back home. Thank you to Rev. Scapegoat for letting me crash at his place last night. He saved me from walking the streets of Glasgow all night, carrying the Alien costume (but by morning I would have probably ended up wearing it: cold!)

As you can probably guess, I had an excellent time. This was the first time ever that the Alien had completely dominated my human side: I was strutting around making deliberate attempts to scare children and adults! Often, I was successful! I hope there wasn't too many complaints about me ... I wasn't as naughty as the Daleks! ;)

Thanks to everyone who made the weekend what it was.

Gareth

Hey all - good to meet you. Was a fun weekend.
I'm Kona's mate btw for those who hadn't guessed, also the one in the Warhammer 40k marine suit from Kona's halloween pics.
Anyway, I've got a load of pics still to upload, but have this one for now

Hmm..

*goes off to look up prices of marine armour*

Is anyone else slightly worried about Gareth (Pug50)?

I'm starting to think that he's not a man in an Alien suit, I'm pretty sure he's actually an Alien in a man costume!

When he (it) is dressed as 'Gareth' he's a normal, slightly shy adult human male, but when he gets that man costume off there's no stopping him - he's Xenomorphus Rex!

I think you might be right there Harry. Perhaps someone has tampered with his DNA and he's slowly becoming more of the Alien and less of his human self.

Either way though he's still a camera whore :)

From what I understand, Dr Who #6 is the perfect remedy for the Alien returning to his shell...............and firmly slamming the door!! :)
