The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Thanks for letting me go all the way through the encounter.
It was fantastic to see the reactions from the survivors.

Quote from someone coming out of the Encounter show:
“I have never been so scared in my life … and this from a plastic jug!”.

We SO scared them well!

To my fellow scientists: turgid 8) :delta:

Some photos of the event:

It has to be said that I didnt get as many as I really wanted to, as I was allowed to join the Marines in the lab for the second day, and jumped on it. Thanks so much to Baz for a lend of the armour, as I haven't reshaped my recon armour to fat-bastard proportions yet. The video is still to come but is shaping up rather nicely. Ill sign off for now, just know that I love you all.

Love you guys! Also sorry we didnt stick around for the last meal of the afternoon, we went to the car to get some stuff and by the time we'd turned around we had no idea where anyone had gone nor were we waited for, but hey ho! Not to matter :)

If anything, this weekend has pulled me out of the whole:
"I wanna quit"
"Dont wanna Xeno anymore"
"Fuck off Abi"

Phase i'd seen to be going through, a lovley kick back into the hobby and her character :D

so cheer's guys! Love you all like family <3

Harry & Sue down & clear.

I completely agree with what's already been said in that it was an absolutely superb event all round. I was SO pleased to be able to show the collection in a place that actually has decent light for once!

It was lovely to see some old faces and to meet some new ones. That said it did feel like a bit of a quick visit and I'm sorry if the extent of my conversation was just a quick "hello" and then "can we chat later after I've set up?". On that note I should apologise if I seemed a bit preoccupied during the set-up and pack-down; I know I refused a lot of offers of help but it quickly became apparent that I had to be 'in the zone' to get it all done so fast. It was that old situation whereby it takes as long or longer to explain how something sets up than it does to just jump up and do it myself.

I can only imagine how hard everyone worked to organise the AE but it paid off 100%, Sue and I were lucky enough to go through (thanks Kev) and we thoroughly enjoyed it; the new additions really worked too - top stuff!

Sorry we had to leave so early on Sunday morning too, the van had to be away before the centre opened at 10am.

Next year? :)

Harry

I'd just like to thank every single person who took the time and effort to support this event. I won't pick individuals but i will just say the event just wouldn't be possible without the talent and dedication shown by so many people.

As expected there were a number of 'complications' though-out both days but as ever people rose to the challenge as only the UKCM can. An organisation task is so much easier when you know if you ask for something, there, now, not only will you get exactly what you need but it will be done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Every single member should be very proud of their achievement

And many thanks to the NSC Malika and Olivia for their warm welcome.

.....All hail the jug

I'll add my Thanks to the pile, to everyone who helped run the event, everyone who paid to attend the event, and everyone who assisted in any way, shape, or form, whether online or merely behind a bar some miles away and utterly oblivious to the essential job they were doing to keep the AE running smoothly!!

Well I'm still recovering from the weekend, we travelled a long way to be there but it was well worth it, my second event with the UKCM and it was amazing, I got some really good video footage from the lab and will edit it and post it on youtube when done. Big thanks to those organising the event, Gareth, Scapey for the warm welcome and thanks to all those who made me feel welcome, looking forward to seeing you all again soon

I was just wondering if anyone took a particular photo of the HHACA collection. I took quite a few myself but one didn't come out too well, and I forgot to check it and reshoot. It's this one:

If anyone has a similar photo that they wouldn't mind letting me have I'd be really grateful.

Thank you both, that's fab! :)

Would it be okay to potentially use these if I have to provide photos for publicity etc?

Andy is that the original size or do you have those images any larger?

Harry

Finally tracked down my forum log-on ;)

Cheers for an ace weekend guys, was excellent fun being in the lab again, running around, shouting, pressing keys and watching the boy terrorise big tough blokes with a plastic jug.

It was a moist, seepage, discharge, turgid kinda weekend :)

Cheers from the Morgan clan, until next time :D

Long live the jug of justice! 8)
Thanks to the Morgan Clan and all others to make the AE such an amazing event.

I can only echo everyone's words on here.

It was my first "action" event with the Xeno (and only it's third outing).
Loved every minute of it.

The initial set up was a bit manic, but once we settled down into the runs, everything panned out superbly.

Thanks to my fellow Xeno's, Simon especially for being my tunnel buddy.
Kris and Tony for being my Dancing partners in the airlock.

And the rest of the Tunnel crew for blowing smoke up my arse all weekend!

I had the beginnings of a stinking cold, and being trussed up in a gimp suit, boiling to death and smoking the equivalent of 50 Marlborough Reds in the airlock didn't help matters, so I was as rough as a badgers backside by the end of it all.

Some wickedly funny moments though. The atmosphere inside the run was terrific.

James got some excellent footage of inside the final control room.

I didn't get to speak to half as many people for as long as I would have liked, but when you've got a job to do, you just crack on and get it done!

The Xeno got some serious battle scars as a result. Got some teeth to replace and a load of latex scars to patch up, but that's the joy of costuming.
Use it like you mean it. Everything can be repaired or replaced!

It was a good field test, and I now know which bits need modifying to make it a little more resilient.

Hopefully this sort of event can be arranged again because it was a blast, and has a lot of serious potential.

Well done to everyone involved. It was a scream..... Literally.
