The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey guys and gals,

Some of you may have noticed that the page count for "The Ready Line" has shrunk considerably (by about 7 pages!!!). In an effort to alleviate the number of useful threads that drop off the end (I wish they'd get dropped into a trash section, allowing moderators to sift through them for threads they want to keep) a little house keeping was in order. I basically went through from page 20 to page 1 and looked through every thread. The vast majority of thread deletions were a lot of pointless and no longer applicable posts. Mainly "for sale" posts, "can XXX please contact me" and such.

This should make searching older posts a little easier in the future.

One request... okay maybe a couple of requests... When you have a "For sale" thread (or something similar) and the transaction has concluded, please edit the thread's subject title from whatever it is to "PLEASE DELETE". This will help alert us moderators to delete expired threads. The next request is if people can be more conscientious about how they post. There have been quite a few new threads created recently that are all very similar and to save board space would be better off condensed into fewer threads. For example Convention threads. We all share the same joyous sentiment of meeting up and hanging out. Good memories, phenomenal times. If I may suggest, can we please try and keep these comments to as few threads as possible. The same goes for threads regarding Convention Picture threads.

Thanks for helping out everyone!!! :)

Indeed!

I bought this up at D-Con with Alex and Russ- basically threads on The Ready Line were falling off the end of the board before they could be transferred to the Archives (example- Stephen210s Grenade Straps thread).

This is happening due to too many new threads being started with subjects that don't necessarily belong in The Ready Line- really this forum is for prop discussion (building/ where-to-find/ etc).

Threads such as "Please contact me", "Aliens is on tv tonight", "Hey I'm new here", "I like chocolate", et al, should really go in the Off Topic forum.

We should also start getting used to using the USCM Noticeboard for events and gatherings of marines (D-Con, UK events etc).

And it's really unnecessary for everyone who attended D-Con to start a separate thread for their photos, discussion of events and so on.

The whole point is to retain some really good threads that showcase the hard work many of us have put into our marine uniforms, equipment, weapons, miscellaneous items, and bug suits. :D

Just my 2 cents. :)

Top idea Alex & Kev

We have the D Con Photos/Discussion thread to talk about the photos. We have Alex's D con Gallery thread - awesome idea. Dragon Con website has this also for all galleries so you could add that one.

USCM noticeboard the UKCM are using for drops and events so good idea we should too.

Keep it tidy people :)

And here I thought part of the problem was the shrinking of the number of threads on a page due to the large number of sticky posts.

Relize that this is an old topic, but feel this is useful info.

The number of stickies doesn't change the number of total threads. Most people think the issue is the Ezboard gives each topic 20 pages per forum. Actually they give you 500 topics per forum. The thing is that by default, EZBoard shows 25 topics per page so it looks like you get 20 pages (500/25=20).
