Brian's post about his Veronica Cartwright autograph reminded me of this:
Back in 1995 I met Colette Hiller (who played Dropship pilot Ferro in Aliens) at a London Convention. I was helping out Alien War who had a stand there, and lent them my Hudson armour and some other costumes for their staff to wear - kind of like a walking exhibition. Colette was signing autographs as part of the Alien War stand.

I was introduced to Colette and told her I owned her flight-suit costume and that I had it with me. I think she said something like "oh cool, would you like me to wear it?" to which, for some star-struck reason I blurted out something like "sure, if you can still get into it"!!
What an idiot! I suddently realised what I'd said and she gave me a very stern look for a few seconds - then we both burst out laughing!
Thankfully she realised I didn't mean it to come out like that and wore the costume all day - although when she signed an autograph for me she wrote the following as a constant reminder to me to engage brain before opening mouth;
"To Harry, with very best wishes, and yes I can still fit into my suit!"
