The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So.

I've just been searching for jackets online and I found this super-cool looking piece of kit.

It got me thinking... It holds certain characteristics that wouldn't look out of place as part of the Nostromo uniform. The "storage pockets" on each arm are very remeniscent of Brett's jacket.

Equally of course, the SG-1 fans amoung us will no doubt recognise the G8 style collar.

So here's a jacket which I would love to incorporate should I be the costume designer for a new Alien movie.

Do any of you have anything you've seen that would look good or anything you would like to see form part of an Alien series costume?

I always enjoy forming my own part of the film mythos, whether it be USCM, Fett,Clonetroopers/Batman, GL, etc. It's a chance to stretch my creativity and see if I can make something that, while never done in any film, is "film quality" and blends in w/ screen accurate gear.

I do enjoy making screen accurate costumes as well, it's just fun for me to make my own character too. For example, I'm planning on doing a Green Lantern. But not Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, etc. As the GL Corps has a wide range of members, there's ample opportunity to create one.

It's also easy to substitute "GL Corps" with: USCM / Mandalorian/ etc.

I suppose that's a long winded way to say: "Great Jacket!!! For sure make it a USCM one!!!!!"

Looks perfect for a USCM Flight Crewmen's jacket.

I found a bandolier at Wal-Mart many years ago that was made for 12 guage shotgun shells.
I bought it and slung it around my waiste and loaded it up with USCM grenades (as many as I had at that time).

I also saw a pair of cargo pants that could be used for a Nostromo uniform, but they'd need to be bleached out first.

TKMAX eh?

I'd never seen this jacket befor. It's a "commando Systems" jacket apparently. Never heard of them.

I'll have to keep my eye's peeled in TKMAX just in case! I'd definatly be up for getting one.

I'd like to do a proper replica of the Nostromo Jackets. I have yet to find the right flight jacket on which to base it.

It's basically a Mk3 aircrew jacket except that it's blue. And they don't come in blue, only Olive Green. :(

I'm also killing myself trying to find a suitable N2B style parka/jacket in *white* for my Alien 3 trooper costume.

But anyway... I'm getting off topic on my own darn topic!

I was talking with some of the lads about this after the Aliens outdoor screening in London at the weekend –

Geordie has a cool UK Garrison jacket, and we were discussing possible AL jackets for board members. Maybe this jacket would be a good starting point. Could put a big AL banner on the back.

Here's a rough idea. Be nice to put a name on the front too, and of course all the USCM/UKCM and other badges, too.

But it would be good to have an Aliens Legacy jacket.

Whaddaya think, troops?

Andrew

I like too!!!!!

The only thing I'm not too keen about on that jacket are the front zipped pockets. The lower "handwarmer" pockets are fine, but personally I'd like to see the upper zipped pockets replaced with maybe a top and side opening patch pocket similar to the G8/WEP. Perhaphs with a "less G8/WEP" closure flap.

Or just removed alltogether maybe, more like the "liner".

Allthough the liner in the original picture has two verticle zip side entry pockets which I like alot!
If the main jacket had the same pocket configuration as that I'd be sold!

Of course this jacket could be equally suited to a "Modern Day" USCM issue jacket as it could a dedicated "Aliens Legacy" piece.

I've only found two sites online that sell these jackets:

Commando Systems Flight Jacket ($127.46 + 19.95 S&H)

Commando Systems Flight Jacket ($139.99 + FREE S&H)

The first option seems just a little more expensive when you include the S&H. Also, the second option accepts Paypal, which I kinda like given that I'm not a fan of handing out my Credit Card info.

I like this jacket. I actually like it a lot. Personally, I doubt I'd put patches that specifically reflect the AL board... maybe sew some velcro on there and allow a nametape & uscm tape on the chest... on second thought... I kinda like the idea of subdued US flag on one shoulder, and subdued delta or sulaco and arc on the other.

There's also straight from the manufacturer... at a ridicolous price.

You're looking for a jacket that would work the theme ? How about actual G-8 jackets in USCM camo, of which we are producing on the coat tail of the SG-COMMAND.net Stargate off-world team jacket production run in September. A small number in limited sizes will be done in Colonial Marine camo. ;)

How much do they charge direct from Schott?

All I see for price is "please email us".

I've been thinking on changing the upper zip pockets to be side entry vertical zips as per the liner (give us more room on the chest for patches if we so wished) and also since I woudn't really want the liner as well - only the main jacket, I wonder if Schott would be interested in a custom job assuming a suitable order volume?
Or (more likely) getting a custom job done elsewhere.
Although, anyone who remembers the difficulty that arose with the SG-1 jackets, might be a bit put off.

What do you guys think?

Isn't that "commando" jacket an Isreali designed Flight Jacket? Only its in Nylon, not Nomex?

Just a random thought to contribute... I've seen this jacket before and I agree it looks really cool. But they're usually so pricey. :o

Israeli eh?
Intriguing. I've not seen them befor.
It's quite possible I suppose.

Re a USCM G8/WEP.

I'll be very interested to see the G8 done in USCM camoflauge, but I think I prefer this jacket.
There are a number of things I really like about it:

a. It's plain green. Something I like it a flight jacket.

b. It's nylon. Again - I like this in a flight jacket.

c. I love the "ribbing" storage pockets on the arms.

d. I like the fact it's different.
The D rings on the shoulders... zipped pockets... Lots of interior pockets... There's nothing else quite like it that I've seen.

It just has something for me that sets it above a G8.

I put together a jacket similar to this back around Christmas. I used an off the shelf flight jacket made by a civilian clothing company.

Well, I thought I did, but upon taking a look in my files, I can't seem to find them.

I'll take a few tonight and post them tomorrow.

Great jacket Dom!!

Almost pulled the trigger and bought that commando jacket!! Had my finger poised and ready!! :P

But, I've got on order a SGC olive jacket, can't really justify another olive jacket, as cool as that one is.
