Post subject:  Help with Ebay sale!!

Good morning marines! ok, 6 days ago i put my fully scratchbuilt PR on Ebay as i now have a much better, more accurate one. Had lots of interest and looked as if i was going to get a nice price for it........only to have ebay pull the auction 3 days before the end! GRRRRRRR!! I stated very clearly, many times in the item description that it was only made form plastic card and didnt fire and could never fire anything. what annoys me more is that there are still other sellers selling PR's up right now!
so why did mine get pulled? is there anything i can do to make it "legal"? orange/red tip? really want to sell it on so any help will be great :)

p.s. i would offer it for sale here, but thought that the more discerning Aliens fan wouldnt really be interested in a scratchbuild, would you?

Could it be a 'competitor' dobbing you in?...

Ive heard of similar problems on the "bay", I have seen a few listed over the last few years and some got pulled whilst others didnt, i was told that they do a sweep at random for key words such as weapon, rifle gun etc and pull anything off that doesnt adhere to their policy, perhaps an option could be to relist it as an aliens pulse prop replica or something like this which doesnt used the "key words" they look for enthuseasts will know exactly what they are looking for and true it may limit the audiance a little but at least it will get the sale, just a thought

I had an auction for a plastic airsoft SPAS cage (just the cage and grip) pulled because "It did not have a visable orange tip".

There was no muzzle so how could it have an orange tip?

Two things you have to watch-

1) it has to have an orange tip "in your auction picture" if you get what I mean.

2) Because replica weapons of any kind (ebay doesn't know the difference between a fictional PR and an SMG) are banned in different countries, you should avoid using the "Will ship Worldwide" option. This is the second reason my auction was pulled, so I was told. Probably because ebay has been inundated with requests from Customs officials of those particular countries to prevent the sale of said items.

Hope this helps. :)

That's what I ended up doing with mine. I wasn't going to neon orange Krylon the end of my rifle just for an eBay auction. :)

Oh jeez man don't paint it!!! :o

You have PM btw
MSPaint is my cheap free friend!!!

I'd let the winning bidder know that it will be shipped WITHOUT the orange plugs and that if he wants them on there to let you know.
Then paint it ;)

I'm pretty sure the majority of people won't want it.
Glad I could help!!

I feel your pain man!

I had the exact same problem with several non-weapon sales on eBay, but these two were the biggest pain in my ass:

1) M203 Handguard

This is known as the 'shorty' handguard for use with the grenade launcher on your M16... (the longer version is what's used on the USCM Flamethrower)

Image

That auction was chock-full of words that were red-flagged by the evilBay powers that be. It was rather quickly 'removed' the first two times I had listed it. Finally in my THIRD listing I went into a rant about how this is basically just a hunk of plastic with no receiver parts whatsoever, etc., etc., etc...

2) MGC VP-70

And then of course my attempted sale of the MGC (Model Gun Company) VP-70 without a blaze-orange plug...

Image

Also yanked from existence by the evilBay powers that be -- but some quick thinking procured the orange cap from an Elmer's Gluestick, and a little digital magic to make the 'hole'...

Image

I did offer this up on our board first knowing I might have a problem selling it on eBay, but had no takers. Ironically, shortly after completing the sale on eBay I had two individuals interested in it. Go figure. :P

Good luck with your sale man! :)

thanks Ripstick! glad to know im not the only one this has happened to. ive had CplTony photoshop some orange caps onto my pics, and i'm going to avoid all "rifle, gun etc etc" keywords from my auction title. hope i can slip below the radar this time :)

again, thanks for all the great help guys. ill keep you all up to date on this :)
