The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This is what happens when you have a few beers and go on eBay haha!
A 1992 Distortions Alien3 mask, needs repairing and some work but I think I can make a nice display piece out of it.
Does anyone know the best stuff to repair latex? Also I am thinking of cutting the top half off a mannequin and then using something like expanding foam inside.
Has anyone done anything like this before and got any tips or tricks?
Thanks
Jay

Might be worth contacting HouseOfMasks, he’s mainly a slipknot mask collector but he restores old masks and stabilises them.
Some of his vids on YouTube go through a bit of the processes but he might be able to point you in the right direction anyway

monstermakers.com sells anything you would need. RD-401 and then paint it with latex. dry brush for base coat then airbrush for rest(fw acrylic works). monstermakers latex is basically a derivative of liquitex liquid latex. And get a gross of flux brushes as you will burn through a lot rehabbing things. Or at least that is how I understand the process as of right now.

Brilliant thanks for the two recommendations, if I want to get a high gloss/wet like look are people using just something like car laquer to achieve this?

Noooooo don’t do that, it might eat the latex.
The monstermakers site above sells specific slimes/wet look paints or you could use gloss acrylic medium (I’ve personally used the Windsor and Newton one)

Definetly get it stabilised before thinking of painting it. Waste of time painting it if it’s going to disintegrate in a few months.
