The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello all
Just purchased a Cybergun thompson with metal receiver for 50 dollars total 70 with shipping. Was that a good deal? Have 3d printed pulse rifle kit that i was told will fit with the thompson. Even if i bought the metal receiver it would have been 100 or more

Well came home to my thompson after a 12 hour shift aaaannnndd its snapped in half inside the box! Broke right before the hop up! Wtf. Usps deliverd it. I contacted the seller. I may have to file a claim with usps.. any ideas how to fix it? 0or if it can be fixed? Wasnt planning on airsofting with it. Just mainly a static buld with moving parts. So mad and dissapointed!

Erm maybe a 2part epoxy would do the job if the break is quite clean.
Damn shame

Yep, I would also suggest an epoxy.

I've had great results with West System (slow-cure) for making cues and guitars, but easier/cheaper/decent is the JB Weld 5-minute clear epoxy from Home Depot. 5 minutes is the working time- it needs to cure overnight at least, but it can then be sanded and painted. It's certainly strong enough for a static display. I've built up 3-d printed firearms with it and it's fine.

I have a marine epoxy here . Im just concerned with the strength of the glued area. I looked around and i can get another metal upper for 60 plus shipping. Thats almost what i paid for the gun itself.

Well, we (my partner and I) tested the West system with standard hardener by gluing the end grain of two scraps of 2x4 together, and jumping on it after it cured.

The board broke in the wood; not the glue line.

Slow cure hardener is stronger bond as it has more time to penetrate. That's all I used on pool cues, other than inlay work, which was Cyanoacrylate adhesive.
