The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

For my whole build I'm trying to use supplies that I already have. So far I've had most of what I needed and spent very little. I looked through my paints and found some colors that are close to the real ones.

For the green I'm using Federal Standard 34094 which is US od green. Pretty much any od paint will also work. I thinned the paint 50/50 with windshield washer fluid and airbrushed the base coat.

The rest of the paints are Apple Barrel brand which is available from Walmart for $1 a bottle. English Ivy Green is very close to od. I used Jet Black, but any black would also work. I used Brown Oxide, but again any dark brown would work. I tried a few different tans and found that Lite Mocha was the closet, but it should be a little darker. Granite Grey looks pretty close.

Using a picture of Wiezbowski's I painted on a piece of cardboard. I didn't try to make it exact, just the general look of it. I used a small brush to mark the outlines. Then used a larger brush to fill in. I added a few drop of water to the paint on a pallet to thin it out slightly. Except for the black all the paints took 2 coats to fully cover.

Next I tried doing the lobster plates. I used a picture of Frost's helmet for reference.

The tan was a little too light. I added a few drops of brown ink to some water and washed the whole part. That helped darken it. Using brown paint with water would also work.

Wow, I have never seen that shot of Frost's helmet cover with a stencil instead of a name tape. Very cool!

Next I painted the helmet. I used reference pictures from a few different helmets. I used features from the helmets and changed them slightly.

The pictures of the helmets had almost none of the light grey streaks. Since it is on the rest of the armor I figured that there should be more on the helmet.

I brushed on the brown ink the same as the lobster plates. Then I remembered that I had some wood stain. That really helped to darken up the paint.

When I was rubbing on the stain it started to soften up and wear through the tan paint in a few spots. It happened to be in the same spots as in the reference pictures. The paint also chipped in a few spots. I wiped on a semi-gloss polycrylic to seal the paint.
