I think one of the reasons the exact color is so hard to pin down is the lack of decent references on Aliens props photographed in optimal conditions. While these pics are just quick snaps from a phone of the surviving sentry battery, they give you a bit more of an idea of the true color along with the black “wash” that was applied - all this contributed to giving the finish of the props more depth and an extra dimension:

Wow… yes they’ve aged it like they (Terry) aged the armour so it looked used… nice details. What’s the MICROGRAMMA BOLD EXTENDED (etc) references? Just small details they knew wouldn’t be read? |

Paint age and wear are factors also. As is paint variation from batch to batch. |

For the moment put aside batches, age and wear… the issue here is how they ‘aged’ the paint on the prop and made it look ‘used’… fantastic… |

Great pictures Willie!  Do you have any of the top? Just a side note regarding the colors: the green color seen in some of the scratches seems to be the original color of the radio/battery pack. Cheers, Stefan |
