The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Happy 35 years of one of the best sequels ever made!

I wanted to start up discussion for the 35th Anniversary Challenge Coin. I had started a design a few years ago. I highly encourage input and designs from others as well.

I was gutted we couldn't decide on a 40th Anniversary Alien coin, so I really don't want us to miss out on Aliens' 35th.

We would need someone to handle the order and shipment of the coins. I can cover the cost of the production, however, provided we can meet the minimum interest of coins (whatever a minimum order is from whichever company). I'm not looking to make any profit, I just want to see these coins made. I'm also not comfortable handling the order with my difficulties regarding wrangling someone else to package and ship each coin.

Here's my idea for a side of the 35th Anniversary coin:

Keen to assist, ... or possibly even run the order & distro, although not sure that's a great idea from New Zealand, as would up everyone's shipping costs ...

What about the classic Bug Stomper logo on the flip side?

And maybe a simple "Aliens XXXV" in a suitable font (WU, USCM, etc) curved around the upper or lower edge on the front?

I'm not sure but I think there was already a coin with the Bugstomper art on one side.

I think saying "Aliens 35th Anniversary" would be the way to go rather than Roman numerals to keep it in line with previous coins, but that's just my thoughts.

I'd agree with Moosh, it needs to continue the look n'feel of previous ones.
I also think it'd be nice to add in the forum website address. If the back face is basically just fancy text, it'll be a long easier to finalise the design :)

This pic might be a bit of a stretch, but if you isolate Drake's outline with the smartgun, that would make a good image for either side.

What about the Atmosphere Processor? If we can find a good image of the miniature model that doesn't "cut" any pieces...

Enamel on one side makes a big difference.

suggestions:
Victory by Wings
Bugstomper
Aim by PFM
Screaming Eagle
Weyland Yutani

Already used in enamel: Delta and Sulaco

I would also be willing to update old coin art to re-release if someone was interested in taking it up.

Bugstomper was used already too but I like the other suggestions! Gonna play with the Weyland Yutani one, but I figure you have the others drawn up already as vectors?

What type of finish? Border? Size?

Going to put together the raw images I took of the APC and Dropship models so the coin maker can properly digitize them.

How about:

Weyland Yutani BBW in enamel

Atmosphere Processor on other side

With some "shake and bake" verbiage

I’d say got for ‘AIM BY PFM’

I personally think the Weyland Yutani thing is massively overdone...

To me the things that make the most sense are the "APC" image and the "We aim by PFM" because they have never been used and are in line with previous coin themes/subjects.

It certainly leans toward being played out, but the use of the Delta is fairly consistent in past coins. Maybe a smaller delta with emphasized anniversary wording on one side, then either of the two above options for the other side. (with un-used choice of the two reserved for the 40th!). Or just go with both the PFM and APC and be done with it.

Quick note regarding your design on the first postMelissa: I love it. I would consider making the dropship smaller and more centered, however, because I think it would allow the APC to be bigger and still fit on a round coin.

AIM PFM enamel side
APC anniversary side

sounds great to me.

Personally, I don't like the first two coins I did with Dom.

The third and fourth coins are much better.

The delta shouldn't be a standard.

I like it!
When I was lucky to have my Dropship design chosen for the 30th, I wanted to follow through with the theme of "OK, we've dropped into LV-426, now we deploy" in the APC and I tried to mimic this scene:
Attachment:
vlcsnap-2021-04-15-12h42m28s733.png
vlcsnap-2021-04-15-12h42m28s733.png [ 1.03 MiB | Viewed 3754 times ]

I used the "CinemaMachines" diecast models and took photos of them to put together to recreate it from a more coin-friendly angle. In order to edit the dropship position I will need to retake the photos of the dropship to better orient the "direction of travel", but not a big deal.

(I also have to open up the APC turret barrels  and possibly omit/stow the top turret)

Matt, can you send a copy of the AIM PFM art if you have it? Thanks!

And thank you, Terran for the past coin showcase!

Bumping this:

- Need someone willing to oversee the production/distribution of these coins. I <may> be able to cover upfront cost.
- Also awaiting art from Noble re: Aim by PFM and myself re: APC/Dropship.

I just have the two smallish Cinemachines diecast models of the APC and dropship, so if anyone else has proper models of these could provide imagery close in relation to POV to what I have, that would be appreciated greatly!

I have a friend that has a laser etcher that he uses for his leather work. Would a keychain holder with this logo work?
