The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

All,

I recall reading somewhere that it’s possible that the props department for the film had all the Beyerdynamic Headsets working? Is that right or have I just made it up? There were the small pouches on the inside of the lobster plates in the converted M1 helmets.

Is this correct?

Cheers,

Pete

There are images of some helmets where you can see a Lemo plug just poking out of a camo pouch like the one here which leads to a rado-mic transmitter pack that's inside the pouch, probably something like this one.

This is very noticeable throughout the scene where the squad encounters the Aliens for the first time in the Atmosphere Processing Station.

I think the packs would have been used to record dialogue, otherwise why fit them? It's interesting to note that Wierzbowski doesn't have a transmitter pack fitted; most likely because that character doesn't have any dialogue.

You can also see this in this thread here.

Harry, question. With all the fancy camera and scanner options going on, with some of these odd props is a panorama image of props an option to help folks figure things out? The camera tech the past few years has been getting insanely advanced rapidly and stuff that used to be pricy is becoming quite affordable process and equipment wise.

I am not sure if that is an option or even doable and is merely a fleeting thought that occurred to me. Something that might make figuring things out much, much easier for folks trying to figure out how to engineer their costume as accurately as possible.

And I am quite sure folks would be willing to chip in to any costs related to doing such a thing if there was one.
