Post subject:  Shoulder lamp question??

Hi everyone,
I’ve just managed to get a couple of bits to make a real parts shoulder lamp, unfortunately I don’t have access to my hard drive or dvds at the mo but have been trying to get some images online etc for reference.
I was just wondering if anyone has seen what looks like a BDU cover for the shoulder lamp? I will attach a pic below but unless my eyes are playing tricks on me it’s something I haven’t seen before.
Thanks

Here is the full shot where you can see his shoulder lamp. It was just a trick of the light sadly.

Agh interesting!! Maybe given me a idea to make something tho. I may add a sort or cover to mine as it could tie in with the helmet cover and BDU etc.

Thanks

The arm is still a work in progress, my farther in law is an engineer and can make anything out of metal so I have given him the parts from a replica one I have and will see what he comes up with, will keep you posted.

I had always thought the arm might have come from a microphone boom pole.
(The type you always see film crews holding over their head)

* These are modern versions of boom pole brackets.

I am waiting on parts but once i get everything working I will have another youtube put up of how to setup and install the lamp on any armor on a spat cave kit.

I did one for myself on shapeways. I just made it public. I know shapeways is a little pricey but it was the best way for me to get one myself.

Just an FYI,

The SU arms are mostly plastic.

The long tubing is the only metal part.

The lamp is attached to a 1/4-20 stud, then inserted into the tubing.

It's quite a bit smaller than that but you're probably on the right track. It could be some item of photographic or grip equipment like an umbrella/reflector holder. This one isn't it of course but there are similarities.

Way... way back, for a short while, I thought it might have been constructed from pieces of an adjustable flag holder.

But quickly found they are too large.
Then started thinking smaller ... like boom poles.

The photo you just posted seems interesting
Because, that little silver piece, looks a lot like the bottom of this screen used lamp, which has been posted in the past.

That's a spigot, which is used in film and TV to mount lights to stands.
