Post subject:  Decent alternative to Brown Bess

Hi All,

I know there isn't realy a great alternative to Brown Bess but a while back I spotted on the interweb a convertion chart for Humbrol colours. Anyway at we often get custom made spray cans of paint made up at work so I ordered a can of paint colour RAL 7013 and you know what? Its not a bad match for Brown Bess. It is quite expensive for a can of paint ( About £11) but the coverage is great so there will be enough for a good few MT's. I will do some comparison swatches and post the results later.

Here's something you could try. It's a formula for mixing paints to create a Brown Bess equivalent. Paints required:

Krylon ultra-flat camouflage paint - 8142- Brown
Krylon ultra-flat camouflage paint - 4293- Olive
Krylon ultra-flat camouflage paint - 8147- Medium Brown.

Spray paints into a cup and mix (in equal parts). This should work for use in an airbrush. No spray can equivalent available, BUT you could check some auto paint shops. In some places, they can custom mix-paints and put it into a spray can.
