The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all, names Phil.

Found this place whilst looking for Pulse Rifle reference materials (seems like I found a gold mine). Anyhoo, have loved the "Aliens" movie since I was about 10 years old (way too young to have viewed it I know).

Having constantly failed to convince my prettier half that buying a Pulse Rifle is an investment and is justifiable so I have now opted to try and make one instead; a "zero cost" Pulse Rifle so to speak, made mostly out of 1mm cardboard of which I have limitless access to. Only cost should be paint and ink catridges :)

Welcome aboard Phil,
I think you're right you have struck a reference Gold Mine here and I look forward to seeing your zero cost Pulse Rifle. Limitless access to 1mm card eh? ;) Perhaps once you perfect the design you could pass on your first one to a worthy cause while you make yourself a better one?

I think we've probably all seen at least one movie before we should have! I saw Jaws aged 8 when it came out on the Big Screen the only bit that really scared me was when the head floated out of the hole in the boat. The rest of the time the Cellos are a dead give away!

Not just the over 40 set. I'd like to think I'm a pretty bad influence myself!

Hello everyone!

Recently bought Aliens a few weekends ago, and have watched it 4 times since then. Absolutely fantastic! Colonial Marines are totally hard-core! Never realized the size of the community that is the USCM today. Great to meet all of you!

Currently looking into buying some armour and a pulse rifle. Hope to see some of you at a con or two!

Hey guys.

Been a fan of Alien since my dad let me watch my first horror back when I was a lil kiddie. Was a bit young to really understand it back then, but I’ve loved sci-fi horror ever since. Then a few years later I completely fell in love with James Cameron’s ALIENS, and that was that, its still my favourite ever movie to this day.

Anyway I moderate the boards over at Gearbox forums, and have been dropping by every once in a while, since b00ce pointed me towards this fan site.

I finally decided to register and say hi.

So hey. :D

Hi there Mike.

Well, I'm a bit far away from you. I live near Hamilton, Ontario. But, I have seen there are a few other Marines nearby. I hope to be able to contact a few of them in the future. Anyone you suggest?

Hi there,
My name's Steve, been into sci-fi films for ages, I first saw Aliens back in 1998 and loved it. Nearly 2 years ago I started playing airsoft at local sites and got talking to a couple of other guys about what guns we'd like to see, one of which was the M56 Smart Gun. Earlier this year myself and a friend (Martin) built an airsoft MG42 out of bits and pieces, I've used it a few times at my local site, and now I'm looking to (non-permanently) convert it into an M56, so I've spent all weekend reading everything Smart gun related on this forum that I could find, and scouring the net and Ebay for spares :) Although our building skills are pretty much limited to scale model building and general DIY, I'm sure Martin and I can make a pretty good job of putting together an M56 with all the gubbins that goes with it, especially seeing all the excellent reference photos on here.
-Steve

Hello,
another newbie in this forum but a huge fan of Aliens, i've been collecting models and reference material for many years.
This forum is a goldmine and i'm really happy to find so many people with equal or even more enthusiasm for the designs in this brilliant movie. Ever since i first saw Aliens, the realistic look and feel of the hardware stood out against other Science Fiction. My curiosity if a machine like the Dropship could be possible, was a major motivation for me to study Aerospace Engineering.
Now i know better and part of the magic is gone, but this hobby is still i part of my life.

Hello.
Im a twenty year old engineering student. I grew up in a sci-fi heavy household. Alien, Aliens, Bladerunner, The Omega Man, Soylent Green, Logan's Run, Universal Soldier, all the good ones.
Im also a decently skilled SCA armourer, mostly for 14th cent. and earlier.
And now i am getting into Aliens as my new armor craft. I have already found this forum to be a good source of information, hopefully i can contribute as much as i have taken.

Feel free to tell us more about it, I am interested to hear why the Dropship wouldn't work in real life.

If you were at the National Space Centre at any of the Alien Encounter events, and heard a particularly ear-piercing scream from the control room... Sakara was the source :)

Welcome all new recruits to the Corps! We look forward to getting to know you all, and hopefully meeting in person someday at a drop!

The USCM is a bit different from "other" costume forums. We freely give tips, advice and generally share our Aliens/Colonial Marines knowledge quite freely.

We have no drama, no flame wars, nothing like that. We are brought together by a love of a classic sci-fi film. Most of us have grown quite close in friendship and will help out, back up and generally be there for our Brother and Sister Marines.

Now, after you've dropped and given Airborne Mike 25, drop and give me 25!  :delta:
