The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Wow! I missed this thread 1st time round, but I'm glad to see revived and progressing! Very cool.

Can I ask, re the possible availability of more cast helmet parts? Maybe a small run for the forum?
I'd love a front bump plate (I'm however sorted for lobster plates thanks to Schotti, Chef & Spat :D ).

Can I also ask what these pieces cost you roughly [back in 2011 :) ]? I know some ppl think it's a rude question, but I generally don't agree with that. Regardless, no offence is intended.

My question is if he dose Castings from armour plates then he could probably do Castings of the PR shrouds. That would be interesting to know.

I actually forget how much it was. Nothing too crazy as I recall, but I think I got a break for providing the base for the pattern. I believe we talked a bit about small runs, strictly limited to members of this forum, so I think that is possible, though bear in mind he is a one-man operation, with all that entails.
Shrouds are an interesting idea. I'm not sure. I have HCG shrouds on mine, which I could let him take a look at, and see what he says.
I also have a proper World War II M1 helmet in with him to see if we can do that in aluminum. I figure it would be nice to have a metal helmet that is easy to cut. Plus it's a more correct WWII version.

Started playing around with weathering. The front plate was done with oop Heavenly Hues, whereas I used grate polish on the left side. Tthe grate polish gives a nicer finish, in my opinion, just sorta darkens the colors a bit, whereas the Heavenly Hues one makes it quite a bit darker, but yields more of a textured looking finish. Kind of messy looking, which I suppose is good for simulating grime etc. Also, the grate polish tends to wipe off when handled, where the HH, being acrylic if I recall correctly, gives a semi-permanent dried finish.
Still not sure which way I'm leaning. If I can get the grate polish to make the tones just a little bit darker, I suppose I'd lean towards that.
The lower pic also shows how the colors change with some weathering applied. The front plate is weathered, vs the main body still clean.

Also, just got a pair of these jungle boots, dated 1966. I wear 10R and got the 11N, and the fit is not too bad. Probably be just fine once broken in, or brought to a cobbler for stretching. Can't beat the price for original unissued. Just be sure you select the correct type of sole when you order. Shipping was quite fast as well.

I've got a perfectly good pair of Rothco replica jungle boots that I didn't pay a lot for, but they have the Panama style instead of the Vibram sole, and then along comes info about where I can buy the real deal! What to do, what to do.... thanks tacblue. ;)

I had a look at that site, you can find those sizes anywhere to be honest and at or lower than those prices, the hard to find ones are the 'R' and the 'W' which were the common ones to be used, but good find anyway
