The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

My uniform is black multicam. I chose it because it is different, and is also a variation of normal multicam as a uniform alternative.
I am yet to put my Raiders patch on the shirt, plus I plan on using rank badges on my collar (in place of the chevron on the sleeve).

People are exploring lots of variants. Interest in the Raiders has been strong enough that I'm pursuing something ambitious in the Base PX, so check that out.

I'm really tempted to get the logo as a tattoo with my number. Would that be acceptable?

I am currently writing fan fiction about the birth of the NZCM during the Three day War on Titan.

It's inspired by the concept of the dirty dozen type scenario. I will be incorporating the Raiders into the story due to Staff Sergeant finishing his specialist uniform.

Starting an interest thread within this thread about forming a uniform collectible prop. For example, I did a run of continuous props for a project called the 'Shadow Independent Soldier Bag' where we created props such as patches and paperwork to go with a specific shoulder bag. This was for the Firefly fandom and we had a lot of fun with it.

I'm proposing a similar 'flight bag' or 'go bag' for Colonial Marine Raiders where everyone buys the same standard bag and I supply patches, stickers, paperwork and other props monthly, so no one is killed by the cost of a bunch of stuff all at once. I'm looking at two canvas bags in black with room for patches and additions. The first is a Rothco Duffle backpack and the other is the Odyseco backpack (for people who'd want something that has real practical day to day feel).

Possible props could include:
Colonial Marine mission maps
CORPS patches
Mission Patches
Travel documents
3D printed objects
Travel collectibles from various stations and planets

Please let me know you'd like to be added to the interest thread. And shout out about your preference on the bag.

Odyseaco or Rothco Duffle? Or...both?

Interested! Cool idea, but not sure I'll have the funds. Just the two pics above, the Odyseaco would be my pref (I tend to think is Rothco stuff is overpriced for what it is).

Any thoughts on other pack options, such as OD (or sexy Wolf Grey) colour &/or a bit of molle? I realise that that probably doesn't apply to the current backpack choices, but putting it out there for consideration.

Thank you for the feedback.

I'll cite the reasons for black. Every time we've discussed what camo to use or what colors to go with, everyone has a different opinion. but black goes with anything, including the many black fatigues people have gone with when making Raider kit. People have defaulted to it as a 'special forces' choice again and again, so I'm sticking with black to keep it simple. Tactical black will also go well with any of the patch colors for the varied designs on the project.

On the subject of molle, I found most options way to contemporary, instead of a very basic timeless look. Something simple, without being specific. Plus, most molle bags don't have good open spaces on the canvas to apply patches. too many molle straps and surface areas to make something everyday.

I too lean toward the Odyseaco bag.

I'm interested in a USCM Raider loot box! lol.

Also, i prefer the look of the Rothco bag. It is reminiscent of the standard issue duffels we get in boot camp. And also evokes that vietnam era that the movie was also trying to get.

Noted. Still working on some ideas for that.

Also...

...it's been 14 years since I first created the Colonial Marine Raiders for an RPG at the Dundracon gaming convention. That first adventure was called 'R&R on Alien Shores' and it was a rousing success. Everyone survived, which is saying something.

I'm headed back there this weekend and running all new Raiders against unforeseen dangers. In tribute to some of you first-timers, I'm naming some of the characters after the early participants on the thread. I'll let you know if your character survives.

Well...this is what I did.

I took the names of the people who were first a part of this subject and made a quick character list for the adventure.

This was the basic line-up...and yes...I realize some of the ranks might have changed, but I needed a random team. If you see a rank that isn't right, please let me know and I'll update them. I threw the characters together really quickly the day before I left for the con, so I need to fix a number of things.

2nd Lieutenant Jane 'Hybrid' Knight
Sergeant Major Dom 'SharP' Baldwin
Staff Sergeant Corey 'Prev/Overkill' Fanselow
Corporal Christian 'Retrograde' Matzke
Corporal Rebecca 'Apollo' Healy
Corporal David 'Breach' Griffen
Corporal M. 'MOOSH' Klassen
PFC Alex 'Rookie' Miller
PFC Francisco 'Bacta' Vargus

This team wakes up aboard the ship USS SHAMAN while en route to Earth. The Shaman has seen plenty of service and combat as a blockade runner during numerous uprisings. 2nd Lieutenant Jane Knight has been charged with returning the ship for decommission, along with a number of Raiders that have completed tours or are cycling into other training programs.

I won't give too much away, as I'm going to write up the event in story form, but they awake to find the ship hijacked to a different region of space and one of the cryochambers empty. They discover that Gunnery Sergeant Rex 'Hollis' Adams is missing, the long range communications are disabled and one of the drop ships is missing. It just keeps getting interesting after that.

You'll be glad to know that everyone survived so far and each Raider did the Corps proud. We all had a good laugh when someone a player read Fanselow's character callsign wrong and asked...

"Why is my callsign 'Perv Overkill'...?
