The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Anyone know of any decent 3D printed files out there for a Gentex SPH-4 Helmet?

Found some files for the accessories/greeblies, but the only file I've found for a helmet doesn't look right proportion wise.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Full helmets - DeltaDesignsCog; if this is the one you think is out of proportion, I'd ping Michael, he's good to work with.

It was this one I was actually looking at... https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/fashion ... -and-sph-4?

The ears seem to stick out too far and the bit that the visor slides under looks too narrow?

Good God. Yeah that one does look bad. Too short and too wide.

Is it worth looking at a regular Bike helmet and modifying it? Loads of cheapo ones from China

Good find Simon, but yeah, even taking into account that you cut the cups off, it's ... not great.

I built mine up from parts (over time) sourced from ebay & Flight Helmet. Wasn't a cheaper way of doing things (in hindsight), but I also didn't feel bad about chopping up a vintage helmet, which was some form of 'compensation'.

Helmet shells are pretty cheap, that might be a good start (+ print the rest?) ...

Ooooh, that's an idea. Just not sure about the head size though.

OK, got myself a helmet shell and been buying up odds and ends to make up a helmet.

My latest acquisition is this "retention harness" (pic attached) which holds the ear pieces in.

Anyone know how this attaches to the helmet shell?

I'm also assuming I'll need a styrofoam liner for the inside of the helmet shell?

did you get a screw set as well? Defo need that.
I rush put mine together a few months back for a Con display, I'm happy to pull it apart again and see if I can bosh up some simple instructions.

Re liner, you can possibly get away without one, if you're not gonna wear it (ie is for display only).

I have screws to mound the visor housing to the shell, what other screws do I need?

I was planning to wear it to cons, so I'll look at getting a foam liner.

If you could put togethor a few simple instructions, that would be great!
