The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Best option seems to be to get the blu-ray and record the music-only track then. :|

Yeah that does sound like the best option. Blue Ray it is.

Slight problem; the isolated score on the BD is not as the music was in the actual film; it's the original pieces James Horner composed for the film as he saw it, then James Cameron chopped them down and used the bits he wanted.

The gearing up scenes do not use the drum roll. They have a longer, different bit of music.

I suggest buying the set and then listening to the whole film with just the score, to see if the drum roll is actually used.

Edit: According to the MU-TH-UR mode guide leaflet, there is a version of the score as used in the final cut of the film, so the drum roll must be on the disc. :)

I don't think so. None of the offered sound tracks have this score/track.

Woooooooooaaaaaah NECRO THREAD! (I don't know why folks get bent out of shape about old threads...)

Has anyone EVER found the track with the un-adulterated drumroll the OP was looking for? I ALSO want it really bad, and was unable to find it anywhere!

We use it for the intro and outro of our podcast.

This version is very high quality. Dialogue starts about two minutes in, but the drumroll is basically a replay after it starts.

This version is lower quality, but no dialogue.

I've got a copy that's only encoded at 128 kbps, but it hasn't got the fading in & out or dialogue.

you can buy the track in iTunes or googleplay. The drum roll track is among one of the top all time top used tracks.

Hello, Pete: I think that I've got exactly what you need. It's featured in an obscure 2 CDs Complete Aliens soundtrack, and it's split in two parts: Landing Preparation Sequence (Part 1), which is 59 seconds long (it includes a small intro by James Horner corresponding to the initial panning on the Sulaco, at the beginning of the scene), and correspons to the marines' weapons preparation, & Landing Preparation Sequence (Part 2), which is 1.56 minutes long, and correspomds to the deployment and military formation of the marines outside of the APC, the entry inside of the APC, tha loading of the APC inside the dropship and the launch of the dropship. This second track is almost two minutes of drum roll glory. Noo dialogs, no sound effects, no fadeouts, just the music track, just like the rest of the soundtrack. You may pm me and I will try and send those two tracks to you.

I can't remember where/who I got this from, and as I said it's only 128kbps. But I hope it is of use.

Hi, There are 2 tracks on the Aliens Deluxe Edition Album for Combat Drop & Ripley's Rescue which are percussion only.
The album is on Spotify.

Hope this helps

Indeed, though that version of combat drop is quite different from the film version. I do like both though.
