The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have been mulling over lowering my battery costs.

https://www.amazon.com/Source-Converter ... 7185&psc=1

This unit allows you to use a Dewalt battery as a base and steps down voltage for both 5V and 12V devices.

The key I am finding is to standardize across the board on my builds.

The other key is to have battery quick disconnects for easy swapping.

As I am a HUGE Dewalt fan I thought this might be a good idea and would work well with things.

I found some supposed dewalt battery pairs for 22 as well. I will see how those work.

I will see. If it is counterfeit then, I am not too worried as they were dirt cheap. Plus this is going in a costume and DC to DC systems tend to be very voltage tolerant to an extent.

The slide in and out factor seemed to be too good to pass up, plus the bigger battery bank would lessen the amount of battery swaps I would have to do per event.

My predator pack. A proton pack (a commission I got for a sound effects upgrade.)

I have been actively searching for better options for batteries. I actually have an outstanding request from some dentists in Guatemala to find a better head lamp solution that does not require constant battery replacements.

If this works well I will switch some or all of my other stuff to this option, but the way I have things set it is not a major change at all. I just have to figure out a good way to hide the batteries.

I have gotten 40+ hours on a single charged battery. So looks like this will be a good go to solution.

I'd just be cautious to make sure you don't exceed the listed current draw per each application (if you're trying to standardize), especially if there's a chance these are knock-offs. They tend to be cheaper because the counterfeiter cuts corners, often in the circuit protection department.
