The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Dear All...

Do any of you know where the name Sulaco comes from? It's an interesting name and I just wondered if there was some kind of meaning of Sulaco or other relevance or some other subtlety.

Regards,

2-1-6

I never knew that. Thanks Vicky!

My favourite Alien name convention is the androids. Any Android from the new alien film has to have a D name, as far as I'm concerned.

I've never noticed that!

Alas, it was probably because I associate Alien:Resurrection more with the AvP series than the other three Alien films, because of it's tone and turd-like Xenomorphs.

I never realised that about the artificial persons either.

I hadn't thought about the artificial persons either.

I guess they must be related to the ABC Warriors from 2000 AD!

:P

Heh... took me a second to get this.

Ash... Bishop... Call...

But where does this leave "Bishop II" in A3?

Oh and on Joseph Conrad's "Nostromo"- I actually used that book to come up with a name for my own fictional ship the USS Socorro. 8)

Well one that's one theory but it could also be that any Synthetic in films 5 & 6 will also have to have names beginning with C and a D named synthetic can only appear in film 7!

Ash... Bishop... Bishop... Call... C... C... D.... D.... D.... D.... etc

Just a thought which explains Bishop II but then again was he synthetic or not been a while since I watched that and can't remember if he bled white or red!

In a deleted scene in A3 (after having his ear hacked off) Bishop II screams out "I'M NOT A DROID!"

But in 2008 at Dragon Con, our own Cpl Tony asked Lance Henriksen himself what the real answer was...

Lance said that Bishop II was indeed an android.

Darkwingstalker- that's the beauty of this place- even those of us who have been fans for decades are able to learn something new! :D

The blood looks red in this pic though.

Although if I'd just been hit like that, I doubt I'd just be standing there, glaring at someone. :D

Agreed; although it's a long way in the future, I really doubt they will have invented dye by then.

Yeah, the script says it's real blood too - but we've been over this way too many times. ;)
