Ah, if the walls of the honeymoon suites in Niagara Falls could only talk! It worked for Superman ![]() Right on Vito! But, if you shook a family tree, a Canuck is bound to fall out! ![]() Myself, I was born in Portland Oregon, and I was an American for a whole week. My mother (who is from Edmonton), tried to get me back home to give birth, but didn't make it. But, I figure being here 40 years is good enough for me. On a side note, it has been a riot ![]() |

Xeno you may be right. ![]() My Fathers Family is from a VERY small town called Faeto, near Foggia, which is located @ right over "The heal of the Boot" if you look at the map of Italy. The dialect spoken is a Franco-provincal dilution called Faetar, it has no written form. I had contacted a Linguist, Proff. Nagy, who was originally at Penn State University ,concerning textual materials on the dialect. I do remember some, but since the grandparents passed, ![]() ![]() ![]() 1. Proff. Nagy is now at the University of Torronto, and why?? ![]() 2. The two biggest enclaves of People who speak this dailect (less than 1650 world wide are located in The fairfield county area of Connecticut ,(my home) and TORRONTO ![]() Ive got to get up to Torronto....my last name is spelled D'Aiuto anyone ever see it? BTW...I like Labatts ![]() Semper-Fi..."Doc" Vito |

That's quite the heritage Doc! My household was the same way... For about 8 years (my mom passed away a day before my 6th b-day, then was adopted by my mother's oldest sister), and from 6 to 14, we spoke a mish-mash of Ukrainian, Russian and French... But mostly Ukrainian, no English. And now, I can't remember NOTHING! It's all gone! I can barely speak English as it is ![]() The other half of the family was German as well, but it was forbidden in our house since my dad was a WW2 vet. He was in the Russian army (against his will)... I have been trying to learn German for a while, but so far, it's pretty sad ![]() The dialect spoken is a Franco-provincal dilution called Faetar, it has no written form. Way back in the olden days ![]() Thanks for sharing Doc, it's great finding out where people come from and their family history. In one way or another, we are part of the same family (the good and sadly...the bad) ![]() |

According to Wikipedia, Faetar has 700 active speakers. Esperanto has a better chance of survival than this. |
