The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Derek, let's categorize each branch which will give each award:

1- Cadets (All elements)
2- ROTC, JROTC, Royal Military College (Or any academic military institution eg. West Point, etc.)
3- National Service Military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines)
4- Coast Guard
5- Civil Law Enforcement (Police, Sherriff, FBI, RCMP, State Trooper, O.P.P., Sûreté du Québec, Secret Service, Homeland Security, Border Guard)
6- Intelligence (NSA, CIA, CSIS, MI6)

In for nitpickers, Military Police, Regimental Police or Shore Patrol service is one award, not two.

Gotcha.

Well, so... hell, here's my wee list then: JROTC, Sarasota Sheriff's Office, USMC, Sarasota Police Dept.

So, whatever all that is.

I can finally have some ribbons! (Thanks to attending Farpoint today.)

Dom,

I would like to request the following:

Baltimore Colony Campaign
Colonial Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon (as we participated in a bug hunt today for the amusement of Alan Tudyk from Firefly)
Pte Chris Chulamanis Memorial Ribbon(if this is still within the timeframe)

Thanks! 8)

I have a feeling you'll be doing a lot of these Baltimore Colony Campaign ribbons the next couple of days, Dom. Please mark me down as having notched another one under my belt for Farpoint 2009. I led second squad as we formed a skirmish toward the autograph table.

Thanks, Dom. I neglected to count our Farpoint sweep as a combat action (thanks for reminding me, Lottie) so could I get Combat Action 2 please?

Is the gold star for the Combat Action Ribbon the highest... umm... citation you can recieve for it?

I've actually done 6 sweeps (4 D-Con, 2 Polaris).

And Dom, you've done at least 4 sweeps haven't you? :)

Don't get me wrong- if a gold star is where it "tops out" I'm fine with it. Just wondering is all.

Kevin

A gold star is 15 correct? If I ever get a gold star I'd probably stop counting by then :D

Also, are there requirements for a sweep? this Con was small and the sweep was short.

I'm not sure if synthetics get ribbons or not, but I was a part of the sweep that lead us to Alan Tudyk as well. So... do I get a Baltimore Colony Campaign Ribbon or Combat Action Ribbon?

So a gold star on your CMCCAR is not 15 sweeps, it's 4 years of sweeps. I did this for the benefit of those who don't do 2 sweeps a year like me, Kevin, Scott, etc. Also, a gold star is indeed where it stops. If you see a gold star on someone's chest, you say "What drink can I buy you, sir?"

Tarim-rex wrote:

I would quantify a sweep as any orchestrated play acting of Colonial Marines at an organized event.

As long as you're in some type of uniform, you qualify for a combat drop ribbon.

This is vague for a reason... any CMC member who participates in the sweep dressed as a Xeno or Pred will still qualify for the award.

Our synthetic has her ribbons (needs to be updated Tony! :))

So, give me your full name and I'll hook you up.

Sgt Beaudoin:

Please add the following:
Camp, Sean - 1 Multi Force
Cline, Kathleen - 1 Colonial Marine Combat Action Ribbon, 1 Baltimore Colony, 1 Multi Force
Gajarsa, James - 1 CMCAR, 1 Baltimore Colony, 1 Multi Force

Actually... Kathleen was Air National Guard (Arizona) and now she's Air Force Reserve. Per your description it sounds like she qualifies for a bronze star. Is that correct?

I don't know the difference between the two, but if it is in fact two different entities, then yes.

In my understanding they are two separate organizations. The biggest difference is that the National Guard can carry weapons on US soil and the Reserves (and regular military) can't. The National Guard are supposed to help guard the state they muster in and are under control of a state official. The reserves protect the nation and are usually controlled nationally. In other words the chains of command are entirely different, hence two separate organizations.

Which is why it gets sort of complicated when the National Guard gets mobilized... but that's another story.

Ouch. Bro, I'll have to disagree here.

No disrespect intented for other branches, but the USMC is notorious for being difficult... extremely difficult.... to earn medals/ribbons in, compared to say... the Army or Air Force (as they have ribbons which make no sense to me at all).

I've seen guys/girls in other branches who are stacked with ribbons and I can't recognize half of them; when I ask, they're a bunch of superfluous stuff. (A basic training ribbon? A grenade qualification ribbon? Come on now.)

I guarantee- you see someone stacked in the USMC, they're well-earned. Likewise the Navy.
