Post-nominal letters, also called post-nominal initials, post-nominal titles, or designatory letters, are letters placed after the name of a Colnial Marine to indicate that the individual holds a prestigious decoration. An individual may use several different sets of post-nominal letters as they awarded to them. The order in which these are listed after a name is based on the order of precedence and category of the order. Post-nominal letters are one of the main types of name suffix.
There are currently four different decorations within the Colonial Marines that entitle one to place post-nominal letters suffixed to one's name in this order of precedence:
• Most Valuable Marine (MVM)

• Aliens Legacy Gold (ALG)

• Valour in Adverse Service (VAS)

• Colonial Marine Decoration (CMD)
