The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all.

I've spoken to Malika about the event. As per the other thread the event will be on the 6/7th November.
The official hotel for the event has not been decided yet and Malika will let us know when it has.
We'll leave the discussion of the AE in the other thread and use this one to discuss what we'll be doing outside of that.
Malika is happy for us to occupy an area, probably the John eggleston (sp?) and to do some UKCM activities there like we did the other year.
A display of props from the movie would be a good obvious starting point so we'll need people to bring things along that can be put on display. Next to this we could put the nerf firing range again. Weapons and people to run it on a rota would be needed for this as well as manning the display area.
I've also spoken to Trevor Steedman who is happy to attend again so we could have a signing area for him next to the display.
Malika also found the files for the Ukcm bootcamp books that we did before so we could run that again. I didn't have much to that myself last time so someone who did could chip in and explain how that worked?

Volunteers to run nerf range
Weapons/targets for the range
Prop display items
Volunteers for boot camp thing if we run it

Any other ideas welcome

The amount of resources we can allocate to galleries etc., I'd say, depend on whether or not the Encounter is going ahead...
I'll happily bring my prop collection along to display - Most of it's not directly Aliens related, though... So are we asking the RPB lads along like last time?
The upstairs display went down really well, I thought, so if we combine attractions, as it were, that could work out nicely.

Malika is happy for the AE to go ahead so that's down to us to help organise. Only 5 marines are required in there at any one time so working on a rota we should have enough people. I'm sure all members of the UKCM attending will be happy to help out :)
I would say the display and nerf range will requie two people each at all times.

I think asking the rpb guys to display alongside us would be a good idea assuming Malika hasn't already asked them of course. We could have an aliens display by us and then a more generic scifi display by the rpb
Sound good?

Cheers

With only two months until this event I think it's time we get a move on with organising what will be happening.

Malika has offered us a space as mentioned above. In this space we can have the Nerf firing range. A few tables for a UKCM display and some more for the RPB guys who Scapey has offered to contact to see who would be interested from over there. Trevor can have a signing table and we could have a check in point for the boot camp.

We need our members to supply things that can be put on the display. I think there are obvious things like 1 example of each of the weapons from the movie. I can put my PR on there but that's the only Aliens related weapon I have. Outside of that, things like a facehugger, chestburster, Alien head etc would all be good. We need to get a list of what we have and can be brought to the show and then I can get some ID cards for each item made up explaining it's significance in the movie.

Could people please list anything that they would be willing to bring for the display please and then I will confirm with them via PM so that we don't end up with 10 of the same thing or something.
Also could people please list their names that are willing to man the display/Rifle range/Boot camp.

Volunteering for these activities will not exclude anyone from the AE if they are participating in that over the weekend. Simply that they can do this whilst not in there or on a break.

This is the list so far of volunteers

Friendlyskies
Assimilate
Padsbrat
Reverend Scapegoat

All the best

Darren

nice one guys.

Glenn, depending on how close the customers can get to the display, i.e. if there's a barrier in front or not (probably not) I think things like a folder with story boards/trading cards etc would need to be handled to some degree for people to see them/flick through. Otherwise you'd have to spread them right out and that might take up alot of space. If there in a binder that can be flicked through and your happy for people to do that then cool.

Rev, I was just keeping the list Aliens related for the sake of our display and keeping it easy to track what will be on there. If the RPB guys do agree to display alongside us then anything else you can bring to go on display would be great. Of course, if you wanted to do a more general prop display of your own then I wouldn't see any problem with that either :)

Cheers

Darren

I probably won't make the event this year, or at least I won't be able to commit until the last minute if I can.

Darren -- Trevor should still have pics for signatures. I made a pile for him last year – A4 glossy prints that are typically seen at Collectormania and the like, as well as some A3 paper pics to give away. They were boxed and taken back to Trevor's place, so it might be wise to remind him to dig them out just in case he's forgotten about them.

If he does man a signing table I would encourage anyone that hasn't got his signature to get one. Last year he didn't sell even one and it was a bit...

I know not everyone one has got his signature so let's support him or he may lose interest in these appearances.
He is only charging £10 and remember you get to booze with him at night for free. We're talking about Wierzbowski, goddamit!!

Just tell him to watch his language outside of the boozer...
