The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello chappies, realise I have been away for a while (although there where no threads for me being MIA!!! ) but I have been mad busy at work trying to do the work of ten people, but just managing to eat their packed lunches instead!

So I know from chatting to a few of you that the general concencus is that the AE is having a rest this year, but that some of you still want to come along and join in the fun.

I am just confirming all the stuff for the SFX adverts and flyers, so am I OK to put you down for some form of activity?!?

I think the comment I got at EXPO was that a Bug Hunt was the way to go, if so I will plonk it on the flyer and make sure the AL logo and piccies are included.

If you all want to take a total break, I can leave it off and see you all next year (or at the many events we seem to bump into each other at!)

Mxx

Unfortunately, the AL website won't be attending. It's stuck inside a Dell 2950 server in a datacentre in Nottingham. I could borrow a similar server from work and bring it along to represent The Aliens Legacy? Or maybe just a CD-R with a backup of the AL database on it?

Ok, understand. :(

I realise you are all pretty busy and cash for DC makes this event impossible this year.

Hope you guys have fun, if some ba**ard hadn't cloned my bank cards I would be joining you, but I am sure I will see you at an event soon.

Right have to go and sign off on this SFX advert now, oh what fun another 11 hour day!!!

The UKCM would like very much to be involved with this years event, as far as the money and time spent on D*Con by some of us allows.

You know already that personally, I'd do bug hunts 7 days a week, every week if someone kept Abe fed.

Sorry Gareth I read your post wrong and thought your guys were saying you were not coming!

The first advert has gone off without info on your participation, so if you can get a logo and confirmation of what you will be doing on the day I will ensure it goes on all future advertising.

Also I will get info on the hotel deal posted ASAP.

I have 7 days of holiday left to take this year.

Quote:
15 – 16 November 2008

* A UK Garrison movie invasion from Star Wars, Predator, Aliens, Ghostbusters, Pirates of the Caribbean, Stargate, BSG, Batman, Chronicles of Riddick … and loads more
* Join the Pirate School
* Can you handle a ghostly experience?
* Take part in an off world Mission
* Live-action Alien Encounter
* See the movie car collection
* Sci-fi creations and prosthetics workshops, from some of the best in the business.
* Workshops, talks and Q&A sessions throughout the day
* Loads more to be confirmed…

That just a C&P from last year?
I'm up for it, anyway, if the UKCM are going to be part of the lineup then it's always a laugh!
Bug Hunts FTW!

If the Hadrians wall attends, the number do not look good to support another Minibus. The one we got was the cheapest I could find after weeks of searching, and we barely were able to afford it.

This time, its Fraz and I in my car. There is sadly not enough room for more than 2 plus all the gear :( (I drive a coupe)

Sandy - We could chip in, and courier the gear down.
( Not that I need a lift, or anything... :) )

Depending on the size of the package, it could cost as little as a tenner each way!
And I have a lovely big armoured box we could possibly fit ALL our stuff into!

I think Malika mentioned Aliens Legacy because not everyone is UKCM, and the board covers more people, some of whom do not costume but still like to display props and memorabilia, etc.
The displays last year were impressive

Indeed I have Fraz, if I think I know what your talking about, which I possibly do or maybe don't, I don't know.

Anyway, just to re-iterate, I will def be up for this one and will help out in any activity that is organised or just come and look pretty whichever is easier.

Nobody say it.

Cheers

Darren

Sorry guys it is manic here in space!

I have taken on board all the comments about the AE and know that this will not be happening this year (removed from website) so if you still want to come along and get involved you are, as always, more than welcome.

We can include a bug hunt in the timetable of the event, or if you want to work guard duty on the collection, I am sure Mr Harris will be happy for you to.

Here are the details of the hotel deal:
Friday, Saturday & Sunday (14th-16th November 2008) @ £48 twin/double occupancy (inc Breakfast and Car Parking). Hotel address:
Holiday Inn Leicester
129 St. Nicholas Circle
Leicester
LE1 5LX

Please book by calling: 0116 2428708 and quoting reference number SWL
