The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Agreed on making next year's total bigger. We need to think up some cunning plans to get the public to put money in the bucket

How about Abe scares all the kids and you all stand around with the bucket saying "your donation can help stop child cruelty like this!"

;)

Abe has thought long and hard about this irony. There is child cruelty and there is Child Cruelty, so as long as his net effect is positive, we don't care!.

How about taking the bucket with us when we walk round a Con ? instead of leaving it on the table.... :D

Would be good to make more of our table than just a staging area

Uprights are certainly more flexible with placement, although a banner on the front of the table is good for hiding the mess ;)

I vote for starting with an upright and remembering the black fabric to cover the table ;)

I would go for an upright with stand , that way we could still put it up if we don't have a large enough table or no table at all...

I agree, and the pull-up banner could possibly go on the table itself if need be.

Maybe in the interim a cheap black tablecloth would be good too just to make things look neater from the front - then we can decide on a table-front banner later.

Upright banners sound like a good, cheap idea.

I have a large piece of black velvet-like material that would work as a table cloth (but it would need cleaning: I've been using it to cover helicopters)! :)

That's a good price for the banner - does that include the stand as well?

Don't forget that I can do large scale printing. Ranger Smith did some a little while ago that were 2x1m (approx) and were about £50.

the upright banner sounds good to me!depending on how many people chip in, we might even be able to stretch to a wall banner as well :)
