The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all

I've been speaking to someone who organises an annual party for 6000 children at Battersy (sp?) Park and their parents in London each year. This is the charity that used to be headed by Jeremy Beadle and now has Chris Tarrant fronting it, along with numerous other celebrities, many of whom should be at the party apparently.

He has organised past events with famous cars etc at the show and after seeing us at the MCM Expo this year thought it would be good to have our Marines, Aliens and Predators there this year. He is also looking to have other costumed characters there as well.

The event is only 1 day and will have a large attendance with TV/Radio/Papers present so some good exposure for us too.

The main snag is that it is on a Wednesday. Also, because it is in a public park there will be a strict NO WEAPONS policy. Spoke to Mantroon about this and it's highly unlikely that the Police would OK it anyway but even if they did it's thought that no weapons from the outset is the best policy for this.

After being to the outdoor screening of Aliens with Abe and Geordi a couple of years ago though, not having a weapon was not as bad as it sounds and no one asked "hey, where's your gun then?"

We will be given access to the VIP refreshment area etc so it sounds like we will be taken care of.

Anyway, if anyone is interested and can get to London for the event on the 2nd July and help raise some money and some fun for the kids then please put your name below.

I told the guy I would get back to him in a few days after finding out who is available.

I will get specific times etc when I speak to him next hopefully.

Some details can be found here

Cheers

Darren

Copy and paste your name to the list if your available and what costume(s) you would be in.

I'll put in an appearance with Abe, but it's a day between two night shifts for me so I probably can't do the whole day.

I'll look into swapping shifts.

I figured most people wouldn't be able to attend this because of the short notice and the fact that it is in the middle of the week and I told the guy as much. I'll give this till tomorrow to see if anyone hasn't read it yet.

Cheers

Afraid I haven't got the funds to get to London.

That, and I am no good with kids.

Sadly mid-week is not good for me Darren and I am not good with people and even worst with kids.

So you can count me out. Sorry.

I'm going to call the guy Sunday and let him know that we don't really have the people to attend this, unless PVB and Abe still want to go of course?

Having given it some more thought I'm also wondering how appropriate we would actually be at a show like this considering it is a party for children. Presumably most of the kids shouldn't have even seen any of these movies and will have no idea who we are. It will either be a case of "oooo, look at the cool monsters" or completely freak them out and I don't really want to do that to little kids, especially ones with a serious illness.

PVB or Steve let me know if you guys still want to attend and I'll let him know but otherwise I'll tell him we can't make it due to the short notice and timing of the event.

Cheers

Darren

With so few of us being able to make it, best to cancel I guess?

Its not really a party as such, theres loads of activities and stuff in the park for the kiddies to do, with lots of wandering performers too.

Also, the age range is quite wide too.

I'm going to be there in the Necro again.

sorry to butt in here, but do you guys get dressed once there, or do you wear yor gear to the event (like Abe on the tube!).

I've never really trooped, but have a full kroenen costume, i wonder if that would go down ok, what with the nazis insignia?

Just a thought.
