OK was think my Gunny hartman impression might not be well recieved, at least by the parents. So, Im opening suggestions for Family audience cursing. i.e. That's some good shooting. You are steely-eyed mother crushers. Ahhh. C'mon! You shoot like your Filthy crumbags. A slack jawed spicy melon farmer could of hit that by now. etc etc. Obviously I dont want to repeat myself.. ![]() Add your suggestions below. |

For anyone that owns the Hot Fuzz DVD, we should copy their 'made for TV' version included in the extras. "Cheese 'n' pies!" "You Fuddy Munster!" "You Bar Steward!" Of course, we could always exclaim: "By the power of Greyskull..." |

FUDGE FUTTER. I think that`s a great one ![]() "Suger" is one I tend to use when my girls are awake instead of the other "S" word. Also keeping with the ALIENS feel,as the Good Sarge say`s "Kick Some". Jason |

With reagrds to language, I would say best to be on the side of caution. "That's some good shooting. You are steely-eyed mother crushers." That spoken quickly could be misunderstood very easily! Not to be a killjoy but it will be mainly kids there. Quote: You are kidding right? No showmanship at all.?
Showmanship is another kettle of fish entirely............ Show us yer poo face Fraz!! ![]() Andy. |

Here's a suggestion that shouldn't be mistaken for real harsh language... I once watched a documentary on the US Marines back in the late 80s. Obviously because they were on camera the whole time, the Drill Instructors made the effort to clean up the language. There was one DI that used the word "stinking" all the time. He spat it out in place of the F word. As in... WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AROUND AT?! YOU'RE HEAD AND EYES STAY TO THE STINKING FRONT!! And he said it like he meant it! ![]() |

I do my best not to swear but it just rolls of my tongue. Some time I do not think what I am saiding and just say what pops in to my mind at the time. Ask Darren about my swearing. If I swear, than sorry. Cheer's Steve |

I hear what every last one of your mucky funksters are saying but if you look at the bigger picture it could pan out like this: A parent hears someone swearing, accidentally or not, and makes a formal complaint. By law that complaint has to be upheld and investigated. The Space Centre (as the host of the event) could get into trouble and at worst there may not be another Sci-fi weekend, at best the guilty swearer may not be invited back. I know that's the worst case scenario but it's not out of the question. Having said that, as far as I know last year's event went without a hitch in the swear department, let's make it 2 for 2 this year. Think before you speak Marines! ![]() Harry |

That's fine about actual swearing.. What about the whole 'not real' swearing.? |

I dont recall anybody using "not real" swearing at the last event or any of the shows that we have attended throughout the year and they all seemed fine to me. I dont think there is any need to "pretend swear", it will probably just sound a bit silly anyway. I dont see any reason to put any emphasis on the requirement to be allowed to swear (although not real) either. It is something that I personally dont see as being necessary to add to the event in any way. Cheers Darren |
