The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

comming soon will be a new type of colonial marine m3 body armour made from a brittish company called j-tac custom (i've called it the m3/xm1 body armour).
also ( but it's a loooooooong way off in the works, a company called arena airsoft will be making colonial marine body armour (film based) from glass reinforced plastic...this is also based in the u.k.
basically i've been badgering some people about making armour, and these are the two best results so far, i'll post some pictures as soon as i get them, but if anyone esle is interested, look them up on facebook and leave a message :D

I would be very interested if they made a set of armour, are there any more details (ETA, accuracy, etc)?

edit: better worded response!

Just a reminder folks that any discussions involving actual sales must ONLY be made in the 'Base PX section' of the board.

Cheers Harry,

The way I read it, I don't think he's selling them, just pointing out companies who are developing them (of course I may have read it totally wrong! :D )

Doesn't the J-tac bloke normally do cloth items like tactical vest etc?

A UK source of decent kit will be great news, especially if they offered various sizes.

here's a picture of the basic chest peice from j-tac,as i said, if anyone is interested you can give him a message on facebook, as for the other company (arena airsoft) they will be making a set, but it will take about 5 months or so to make the moulds for the glass reinforced plastic. i did see some predator and aliens pictures on there, but i dont know if it's their own stuff or not.

but yes, the j-tac is cloth made armour with armour plates inserted. so i thought i'd give my set a funky new name ( m3= colonial marine armour type and the/xm1= eXperimental modification no.1)
molle strips are optional,as is everything else you want done to your armour.

i will also put a post up in the base px if i'm allowed to, i'm assuming that would be o.k?

chest rigging. all options are at owners disgression.

So the stuff from j-tac would be cloth, then with armour plates inserted?

Are airsoft arena making theirs from scratch?

I wasn't really seeing the Aliens/Colonial Marine connection myself.
Maybe I'm missing something.

I think uscm boonie is going expanded universe with a soft set of colonial marine armour

basically, that's the idea. i know it's not for everyone but it'll do for my airsoft antics ( as i remember correctly, spat armour dents and will require repairing after a while, and as for the other stuff i seen....yuk!
the plate carrier is just the chest peice ( the armour plates will be inserted and will be shaped to resemble the standard colonial marine look) the shoulder gaurds will be seperate and removable if need be, and the shoulder " bells" ( i think that's the correst term) will be custom made. in essence it wil resemble a set of m3 body armour, but it will look more modern(?).
and it's also avalible in different colours too :)

i was looking for someone who'd make the armour for use in airsoft, these two are the only people i found who're willing to do it. and no, i'm not an agent, just passing on some news that some people might find interesting or of some use to themselves.

yes to both, airsoft arena will be making there's from scratch. and them making master moulds to make further copies from. j-tac custom mkae all sorts of armour, in all sorts of shapes and sizes, they also do belts, webbing, pouches, ect ect ( so if you cant find the webbing for colonial marine armour, ask him, he'll probably make it for you). again, just passing on some news that you guys might find usefull in some way. hope it helps somewhat.

My armor only needs repair after 300 rounds fired point blank into the same spot. If you're getting shot like that, you're really bad at Airsoft!

i used to regularily airsoft in my spat armour. The only damage would come from hurling myself through windows etc, never from an actual BB strike!

Might as well do what Alien War Zone did when they lost the Fox licence, and use Flecktarn, it's about as close as that fabric one looks :)

I hope they have the designer's permission to use the pepakura for commercial purposes.

Looks to me, Troon, like the dude is simply trying to get a set made for himself, and the companies he's approached are wanting to know if he thinks they could sell more than one set...

Certainly, that first thing is a generic plate carrier - Maybe they're gonna put together a "Looks a bit like it" set from off-the-shelf components. Having true custom tac gear made is VERY expensive.

As for the other company - Hm. So they're gonna resell pepped and glassed sets?
Interesting.

@ mantroon; again. i'm not working for either company, just passing on something that might be of intrest to anyone, if you think the post on facebook has no place there, then by all means, contact the admin and ask for it to be removed. my intent is to spread some ( what i hope anyway) good news that might be of use to people. if you or anyone else think it's spamming, then please remove the post, as it was not my original intention.
@ scapey: pretty much hit the nail on the head, i said i'd post on this forum to see if anyone was interested, and it looks like not many people are, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I don't think it's that people aren't interested. It's just that we've had a lot of people come and go claiming they're going to be making the next big thing and it never comes to anything.

We'd be more interested if you posted pictures of finished products, or at least proper prototypes, rather than a picture taken on a phone of what appears to be a standard plate carrier.

At present, no one offers fibreglass armour so it'll be good to see what this company can produce.
