The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Anyone interested in going to this?

The organisers have offered to arrange transport from and to the airport or ferry terminal, and con-rate for the local hotel is €45 for a 2-bed room.

Hi everyone, I'm gonna jump on in and give you lot a bit of info regarding Dublin comic Con.
Yes it's true Dublin is finally gonna have a comic con, a proper comic con.
I'm 1 of the founders. My name is Bryan Campbell, some of you will know me from both facebook and the hunters lair.
So we have our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/comiccondublin?ref=hl and website http://www.dublincomiccon.com up and running. In there you can read all about the con. It is on August 10th and 11th wwith a set up day on the 9th but what you wont see in the above info is some of the interactive displays we'll have going on during the event as we want to keep it a surprise for all our guests and attendees.
We have some guests already announced, 1 of which has worked on the 1st alien movie, Mr Brian Muir and we have yet to announce another guest who has been in 1 of the alien movies, sorry my lips are sealed(for now)...
So anyway back to the interactive displays and sets. We have lots planned and 2 of our main attractions will be an alien set next to a predator set... ohhhh let the mayhem begin
For the alien set there will be chest bursters popping, dead cocooned bodies, facehuggers attacking, alien eggs(some moving) and of course some aliens with marines. We've yet to begin on the alien suits and marines just yet but the others are well underway. choice of set scene is to be decided, but i dont want to reveal everything just yet either. As for the predator set.. sorry cant say as I'm in charge of that and it's something i dont want any1 knowing about just yet. 8)
Anyway 1 thing we wanted to do from the start was to include all the best groups possible to attend. To name just a few, The Rpf uk are coming, along with the uk fem troppers, 501st ireland , Heroes unite Ireland(new group) and of course predators ireland https://www.facebook.com/pages/Predators-Ireland/254001044611362 after all we set up the con
We'd love to have you lot over to participate as well you are clearly the best at aliens and marines. What we can do for you lot is arrange collection to and from the hotels to event/ferry port/airport. Beverages during the event, working on food. We've organised with a few hotels for a con price of €45 a night for 2 bedroom.
So if you can make it, can you contact me here so i can compose a list of people/marines/aliens.
Thanks for taking your time to read this and I look forward to being a part of your forum, if im absent im just working on comic con stuff so please bare with me.

Oh here's a little teaser of things to come http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whGLghpxibE

As far as I know as long as it's a non firing 1 then it should be safe or else keep it on hand luggage. I'll get a friend to check, he works in the airport so can tell me. When he does I'll let you know

Might also have to consider if bringing them back would cause problems - as the ROI isn't part of the UK, would the VCRA apply?

Would be a good one to do though!

I would say do not take any weapons with you , you may get out of the UK , but unlikely get back in to the UK that assuming it does not get taken by the Garda when you land .. this is why we do not take any weapons when we go to show abroad like Dragon Con as it is a minefield transporting weapons out side the UK ... as well inside the UK sometimes :)
