The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

There's nothing really like D*Con over here, but the London events are usually good fun!
( As are the Glasgow ones :p )

When were you looking to travel? And for how long a teip ? There are dfferent cons during different parts of the year. (Obviously). As for hanging out... You know every single one of them would keep ya company at some point in your journey ! (Even me, if I am still here) :-)

Expo is normally pretty good, although does involve a huge number of Anime kids!

Another vote for LFCC. And being in July, chances are the weather will be reasonably good.

As for what city to visit, it depends on what you want to see. London pretty much covers every thing and if you've only got a week here it's nice to have it all in one place.

I might be going to Glasgow again in April, depending on time off work/funds. You'd have to ask Scapey or the other Wall guys about any Glasgow cons that might be going on, but they'd probably be small if any are then.

LFCC is the biggest I think in the UK and more to older people, plus in London so there alot to see and do.

Expo is very younger children that gives out free hugs but do not have a price structure for other services !!!!! Also in London.

I do not know if we are doing an AE this year as that is very fun and with all the UKCM members and more for us.

I would agree LFCC has fewer costumers but has a better range of genres

LFCC has onsite bar too. Plus I've spent more time out the back smoking and chatting with the people I wanted to meet than anywhere else.
The only time I've had longer with someone who wasn't in the Aliens cast was at Milton Keynes with the awesome Richard Chaves... who I think would have taken us home in his suitcase, if he could! :D

I was looking at coming over for the Exewing Sci Fi day at the end of June. Really want to see some Doctor Who stuff while I am over there. Making plans now as work is shut down the following week for summer shutdown. Andy was telling me that LFCC is the following weekend. Do not know if I can do both along with DC this year. Depends on price of plane tickets.

Thanks!

Greg

I can 2nd MCM EXPO in London.

Mad busy and full of the weirdest things you'll ever see. It's one of my favourite gatherings. I normally attend with the UKG (StarWars).

Memorabilia/ComicCon at the NEC is always a bit of a blast, but better for 'stuff' rather than the costuming side of things.

But London is an expensive place.
London has lots to see and do in, if you like that sort of thing. Museums, tours, galleries, pub fights, riots... that sort of thing.
Birmingham... er.... not a lot to say about it really.

I'm a country boy, so I like the outside.
Devon and Cornwall are always nice places to go and see (I'm there for a start... what more could one want!) if you like beaches and the great outdoors.
But it's a long way from anywhere...

I'm sure there are other decent cities like Manchester or Edinburgh to go and see... but I can't really comment on them, having only passed through on occasions.

Bearing in mind that entry to a lot of the museums is free, though they do have a donations pot. :)
