Hi,

I found my way here after talking with Skapunkninja on another forum. I've already posted an intro. in the appropriate thread but just wanted to say hello to the UKCM!

I've been a big fan of all things Aliens since back in the early 80's & have found these forums a great resource recently. I was virtually unaware of the the sci-fi costuming scene until now & although I lack the time & money to get involved I just wanted to compliment you guys & gals on what you do. I've seen some very impressive pic's from Beltring & other events! 8)

Just curious but did any of you work on the Alien War attraction back in the day?

All the best.

John. :)

Hey. Welcome to the UKCM!

I didn't work on Alien War, but it caused my obsession with the creatures. :xeno:

Hope to see you at a drop soon!

Hi everyone & thanks for the warm welcome.

I visited Alien War, in conjunction with a day out to the Royal Tournament, many years ago. At that time it was in the Trocadero Centre. I still have the t-shirt… literally. LOL!

Harry, I recall an extensive display of your collection there too. I thought the whole concept of it was fantastic & I'd love to see something like it again. I'm sure my two boys would really enjoy it nowdays!

I don't recall the survivor badge though Harley. Did you get one of these after a number of visits?

Data, I met Rich at a major Vietnam War themed airsoft event a couple of years ago & he's a regular visitor to the associated forum. I only recently found out he did sci-fi costuming when he posted a very interesting thread in our off topic section. 8)

Between airsoft, shooting & a busy family life my spare time is all but taken up. However I've just finished the build on a King Arms M1A1/G&P M41A kit which I'm very pleased with. I'll be gaming with it in the new year.

Anyway, I've probably rambled enough now. Thanks again for all your replies.

John. :)

Hi John,

That display wasn't of my collection - If I recall it was partly on loan from 20th Century Fox and partly from the collection of John Gorman, one of the Alien War creators.

Hi mate, welcome to the forums! - The "Survivor" badges were one of the souvenirs you could buy from the original Glasgow version of Alien War, in the basement of the Arches :)
I have a couple here, too.

I think some of the T-shirts had "I survived - Just!" on the back? I think I have one somewhere.

Apologies Harry. My bad. It was a long time ago. I've probably got mixed up as I've visited your collection website many times over the years too.

I checked out the t-shirt I bought all that time ago & it just has "I Survived" on the back. Looks like there were some minor differences between the Glasgow & London merchandising.

Something else I remember was gaining admission with a VIP pass that came with the VHS 'facehugger' box set. That was a result as it included a 'queue jump' ... & the queue was enormous at the time!

Cheers.

Hi Scapey,

Thanks for the welcome & the info. on the badges.

I don't recall them to be honest but, as I said to Harry, it was years ago, mid nineties (??). Wish I'd noticed them & picked one up.

Cheers.

Hi Venger,

Thanks for posting mate. Imperial forces costuming eh! What do you have in addition to your Stormtrooper armour? I think I read elsewhere recently you were putting a Biker Scout uniform together? Either way the avatar looks cool! :D

All the best.

John. :)
