The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

About 70% of the British populace will pronounce it to rhyme with 'Tron', including most dictionaries. However, they will acknowlege the other form (which is the one I use, since I was brought up to speak properly ;) ).

Forget this English argument. The word is actually of old Dutch etymology, being 'Schoon' as in 'Schoonbread'. Those South Africans who still retain a British affiliation apparently call it Schoonbrot instead of a scone. This would make the Scottish pronounciation far more accurate anyway.

So HA!!

Now shut up and go bake me some!!

Guys... The reasoning for the pronunciation is simple.

Kat bakes some.
She puts one on a plate, within three feet of me.

And within seconds...

Scone!

Scone, bun, teacake, fairycake, welshcake who care..they all taste great!

As a lover of tea, a nice 'cream tea' is the done thing!
When at Whitby Goth Weekend, there are plenty of tea rooms that do homemade scones with the best clotted cream and fresh jam.

i used to make killer scones - plain with no raisins in ..mmmmm

hehe we found the grannies were just wonderfully curious about us all. Especially when we mingle with them in their tea rooms!
