The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Bri

I got it from someone in Germany, on a certain auction site.

The language barrier's a bit difficult to get questions/answers across, but he seemed good to deal with, even delaying the delivery (on my request) until I'd come back from my holiday in Australia last month. :)

Next time gimme a buzz. I'm fluent in German ;)

Okay, I'll ask now. :)

I'd like to ask the seller if he could tell me what paint was used on the facehugger, as I'd like to buy some and paint the underside.

How would I ask that in German? :)

Welche art Farbe habe Sie zum lackieren benützt? Wissen Sie noch der hersteller und Farbenummer? Ich würde gerne die unterer Seite lackieren und möchte genau das gleiche oder änliche farbe kaufen.

Nice try, Sandy. Here's the true translation:

"Thank you for the face hugger. But what I really want are those tight black shiny plastic Leder Hosen with the front area cut out, with matching strapless high heels like Sandy's. If you have any left. Cheers"

Seriously though, the face hugger looks really good.

Hey Guys,

Would anyone be able to bring a LARGE guitar or P.A. amp and speaker to NSC for use for the Pulse Rifle sound effects in the Alien Encounter?

Also, would anyone be able to lend a laptop for the weekend? I need a 3rd one for sound and light control in the various areas of the AE. It needs to have Windows 98/XP, USB and sound output.

Thanks :)

Depending if Wideload has space in his car, I can offer either my 30watt but Very clear and Bass-y deep Drum Amp (from my Roland TD-12 electronic drumkit), or a large twin speaker 300w guitar amp.

Thanks Phil!

The 300w amp would be much more preferable if you can squeeze it in the car. Why don't you just let the air out and roll it up? ;)

Could you let me and/or Pug50 know if you can bring the amp ASAP as we need to source another one if you find there's no room for it.

Cheers,

Harry

Will do Harry, I'll speak to the chauffeur tonight.

But don't rule out the drum amp, although only 30w it's still surprisingly loud, and it plays cymbal sound with amazing clarity whilst being bassy for the drums, whereas guitar amps are a bit... well.... fuzzy! Besides which, the drum amp is smaller and lighter!!!

Anyway, will let you know either way.

Both would be even better! ;) However, I know all about the amount of room all this stuff takes up.

Particularly with the smaller amp, I would like you to be involved with the setup, make sure I don't over-do it with the volume.

Thanks again Phil :)

 Slight embaressment time; the Laney guitar amp is 120watts, not 300w! Sorry! Still stinking loud though. It's quite heavy and measures about 28inches long by 18 inches high by 9 inches deep (700mm x 450mm x 230mm).

My Roland V-Drum amp is approx 14 inches cube (but with an angled speaker, like a stage monitor), and as I said before deceptively loud.

I forgot to call Rich and it's now late, so I'll speak with him in the morning and post a reply asap.

Okay, Wideload reckons we can probably JUST get the amps in the car. The Roland amp will definitely fit in, and that's mine, so lets put that as a definite yes.

The Laney guitar amp is my guitarists' amp, so even though it lives in my 'music room' I need to get his permission. I can't see it being a problem though, so as long as it fits in the car then all is good.

How many leads are we going to need? My Roland amp has two inputs, not sure about the Laney, I THINK it's got two as well. Do we need a lead for every input, or will it be a single input from a mixing desk or the like?

In fact, what the hell am I bringing these for, anyway?!!! I'm assuming it's for Pulse Rifle/Alien scream sound effects, or maybe a warning tanoy, or both?

We should have the required leads (1/4" mono jack sockets on both amps?), and we only need one input on each amp.

Yup, we need them for PR and Alien SFX for the "Alien Encounter" part of the weekend. This will work very much like a charity version of Alien War. Last year, it was a great success. This year we hope to make it better and even more scary. I am making a computer-controlled light and sound system for it, hence the need for amps and laptops! :)

Huge thanks again, Phil!

No probs Pug,

Yes, the inputs are standard 1/4" mono jack. I'll bring a handful of leads anyway, just in case.

I knew these were for the AE (in which I will be a marine!) but wasn't sure what kind of sounds would be going through. I might have a little play about with my new Pulse Rifle effects module through the amps to see how they sound!

Your computer-controlled light and sound system sounds exciting, I can't wait for all this!!! :D

Decided to give the hugger a reworking of the paint job, mainly cos the original was rather patchy and flaking off, so here it is:

I was going to do the whole body the same colour as the legs, but time's short until the NSC, so that'll have to be done after.
