The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

There should be a good one with Ian Whyte, but the NSC one shown in this thread has more personnel in it. :)

I now have high-res images (thanks Nick / Harry) so I can move forward now.

Does anyone have good reference for the UKCM delta?

What about the 'Diving Lion' UKCM patch - that's an essential I think...

Need pics!

:)

UK Lion design hasn't been finalised yet, or even voted on whether we're going to use it..

Here's the current UKCM Eagle and the UK Swoosh.

Thanks - what's the font used there?

Also, what text would the UKCM delta have around it?

As in...

Ok, well here go with the first draft.

This is pretty much just 'slapped-on' as a basis to move forward. I'm experimenting with effects, fonts, etc.

I'm loathe to do this in blue because blues are notoriously difficult to match on screen and in print so we may see some variation in the finished item. I think it needs blue though unless anyone can make suggestions to the contrary. Perhaps a darker blue?...

Let it rip.

Possibly, but I was thinking of offering something different - I would think that most people wouldn't want 'samey' posters. :)

Can do - any other thoughts to the contrary?

How about "Specto Mihi" or "inviso mihi" for the motto? Roughly means "look at me" (depending upon which translator used.)

or

"ostendo mihi vestri stercus visio" means "show me your poo face"

Dammit, I KNEW there was a reason I should have had a shot taken like that but with Meee! standing at the front.

Mark that looks flippin' excellent, can't wait to see the progress of this and then hang it on my wall!

In terms of a slogan I've always liked "An army of one", but of course the US Army(tm) have got that one already. It came to mind because the poster reminded me of the fantastic collaborative effort between the Aliens Legacy members and the folks over at the UKG at last year's Sci-fi weekend at the NSC. We kicked around the slogan "one group, one goal" for a while, I wonder how that would work?

What's nice about the poster as it is now is that everyone gets their face on it.

...except the Aliens, but I'm sure Mark will enter talks about producing a 'join the hive' or 'your queen needs you' poster for our Xenomorph cousins! :)

I can (maybe) add an Alien but I'll need the right kind of pic.

But is that all the UKCM do? Fight Aliens?

How is this to develop? Is it to be tongue-in-cheek? Deadly serious? A bit of both?

Real-world (mentioning charities) or pure fantasy?

:)

I'm not actually in the current pic, but I don't mind too much as the 13th are the outcast(s) anyway and wouldn't do much to encourage new recruits. 8)

Don't worry, I'm not in it either.

We will just have to do the recruiting on the front lines at London ;)

I think to a layman it possibly won't make sense, because you have UKCM initialled and then United Kingdom Space Command. I undestand why you've put that there, but I think it should read United Kingdom Colonial Marines. At least that way people will know what UKCM stands for.
At the moment I find the inclusion of 'space command' confusing.

As a design point, you have UKCM with a drop shadow, I think it would look cleaner with an outline instead of the shadow, or just white out, perhaps. But you do say this is just a rough so forgive me if I'm jumping the gun a bit!

Does anyone else think the rope makes it look a little 'Navy', especially with the blue?

But I like the arrangement you have and I think the picture works really well. There is a photo somewhere of that group with Harry at the front.

Good work, I look forward to seeing how this progresses, Eagle man!

Thanks for the feedback. The fonts / effects etc can be sorted once we've gone firm on the overall layout and content. :)

Cheers. Any other comments / suggestions?

It's your group! ;)

Actually I don't think there is. I didn't go to the front of the group, I stayed at the back. Malika and Terry English went to the front for some shots but not me.

I really like that poster, it's definitely going in the right direction IMHO!!

I was thinking of this one Harry, but I think it's a little off set and the white coats are perhaps surplus to requirements!

D'oh!

Curse my bad memory! That weekend was a mighty blur you know! LOL!

I think I was thinking in the context of the group photo on Eagle's mock up poster with just the Marines in it. I definitely stayed at the back for those.
