The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

If you are a Corpsman then keep an eye out for a Caduceus pin with an N in the middle. Dietrich wore one on the front of her helmet band. I have a spare but they might be available in the UK or online. It was another surplus U.S. Army item.

Noble is working on an accurate reproduction of Dietrich's medical bag, but the contents are still a bit of a mystery. We got a quick shot of her diagnostic unit, but there's still room around it in the bag for other possible goodies!

Caduceus pin ??.....must be an american thing lol. Could i have some info.what does the n stand for? i presume your talking about the staff of hermes which has nothing to do with medicine...its a mistake that the yanks have used ....hermes is about commerce, eloquence, trickery, and negotiation .i think your thinking of the Rod of Asclepius.
another inaccuracy in the film....
could be wrong but my greek aint bad

Hi Rodent,
if I remember correctly the N stands for Nurse as it was a Nurses insignia from the Vietnam era US Army that was used in the film.

The military's mistake, not the film's. The pin (as Winch said) was Army issue, they just used it as-is. The misuse of the Caduceus is well documented, but it doesn't change the fact that that is what Dietrich had on her helmet.
I hope you didn't think I was trying to tell you how to dress.

nice cheap Falklands webbing deals on e bay at the moe.my c m now has some kidney pouches and some ammo pouches.i think i'm keeping with the feel of the movie but making it work for me.one of the biggest issues i have with the armour is the light.they are too expensive and im not sure i ever got them.they look cool in the movie and help to light those fire fights up but totally impractical, i know armour is impractical and its only a movie but the light i never understood. i'm thinking a doom style light on my breast webbing and a light on the pr.

i had a conversation with a friend the other day and he made some good points.perhaps the armour light is like the predator shoulder cannon and tracks or something.we also feel that in the film when hudson asks if it is gonna be a stand up fight or another bug hunt this would have been an excellent point to show the marines picking armour over something more practical.i kinda like to believe that the armour is a futuristic military solution after they encountered some bugs before....but obviously nothing like the xenos we know and love.the marines or any fighting force would never go back to 50 percent plus armour unless there was a good reason as firearms killed personal armour....just ask the jerries in the 1st world war.
what do you think?

well in the tech manual the m3 is a mix of titanium aluminide and carbon resin bonded with carbon fibre with a woven venlar fibre to prevent spiralling .its designed to protect from lasers /frag / and projectiles it also reduces IR and heat signature's so im guessing its light weight enough that it weighs next to nothing . so the rule of mobility vs protection come into play .

so here we are.one pulse rifle made and functioning.hat off again to chef and his armour.it is comfortable and with some tweaking can be made to fit like a glove.even my dad was roped into wearing it and he slung it on like a coat.looking at other variants of armour from other armourers chefs stuff has definition.it stands out.....look at the breast plate and how it looks like its been built to protect where as others look like someones gone at a wheelie bin with a pair of shears and slung that on.havent got all the armour on in these pics but had to get some pulsey pics up.

i'm after an aeg airsoft sidearm for my costume.im rather taken with the Marui AEP M93R Pistol for a number of reasons.it looks cool, it holds 40 odd bb's in the standard mag and 90 odd in the extended one meaning as a back up it would rock significantly longer than most. I want a side arm for my marine and something that i could use for skirmishing as a backup so i think this fits the bill...anyone got any ideas?.

i know this is not about urban like the thread said but im doing a display and was wondering what was a close proximity to the screen flick as far as camo was concerned. It seems alot of people like the polish forest bdus.

It's Polish desert you want, not the greener stuff.

It's pretty much the best 'off the shelf' camo you'll get. Believe me we've looked at hundreds

cheers.quite happy with the urban at the mo but maybe soon. ive been acquiring some interesting novelty pieces/nick nacks.ive got a cardboard replica marlbaro cig packet from around the vietnam era and a american vietnam death card that the more playful yanks used to leave on dead vietcong as a calling card and to scare the enemy off....quite literally. both in the helmet goggle band.as aliens is camerons version of a vietnam film then i think these items bring a certain something to the table.next is an appropriately patterned first aid bag...i was toying with something on my falklands gear but decided that if Dietrich had a bag then so shall i and as for the sphig and cuff etc i have that already so im thinking bandages, scissors, foil warm blanket etc.in the movie Dietrich used her bag on newt.there has been much speculation about it but i recon its an old oxygen saturation machine.they weigh about as much as a small briefcase, have the nice visual aid to show that the patient is responding...or nor and has a heart rate reader.all is attached to the patient with a finger probe and this is done in conjunction with a baseline bp so it all fits when newt is being examined.the same device is about the size of a small clothes peg now lol.

They came with the collectors edition of Aliens:Colonial Marines.

You can pick up the pack with them in, and other bits (like small patches) for a couple of quid on the 'bay, or on Amazon, if you don't want the game/statue.
