The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yep here is my build thread for my marine.

I've been collecting bits and bobs since last year and have today received my BDU's from spat, as well as a few other bits for the costume.
First off all i have to admit that i'm UK Garrison. Been part of the garrison for 4 years now and my one regret is not going through the alien experience since to be honest i was sort of scared of the alien, hadn't seen one in person before. So there's me the tallest stormie at the NSC scared of the alien with the red collar. Been fascinated with the armour and weapons for a good long while but only last year after i had played the game did i make the decision to start the costume. Dan will know doubt remember me at Manchester marching up to him and loudly proclaiming that i wanted to be a marine.

I really can't wait to get this costume done and get out there and joining you all at drops round the country.

I am sort of basing my build on Frost so i will be obtaining a flamer at some point in the near future.

Big thanks go to Dan Copper for all the help and advise and i will know doubt be asking him even more question before this build is over.

Now for the progress. Below are images of what i have obtained so far.

I was able to get a snowwolf pulse rifle off a friend who had bought one when they were on sale and it came in a lovely shade of blue:
Image

This was soon corrected and i repainted it in a brown bess mix. True to the original the colour changes depending on the light so it can go from brown to green in a heart beat. I also took the liberty of swapping out the shotgun cartridge in the grenade launcher for a machined grenade. Thanks go to chef for the paint code.
Image

I got a pair of boots off ebay, well two pairs the first didn't fit but the second fit like a dream.
Image

Also from ebay i was able to get a second hand lens for the helmet cam and was also able to get a pulse watch kit from a member on these boards.
Image

From Noble i got a belt and grenade straps. The machined grenades fitted into these like a dream, i'm a sucker for shiny things.
Image

Shoulder lamp. Works a treat and really lights up a darkened room. Can't wait to test it out up at some abandoned RAF building near me.
Image

Dump bag and dog tags.
Image
Image

One suitable T-shirt for under the BDU's, well that and everyday wear.
Image

Holster for a vp-70, still need to get a pistol mind.
Image

Helmet cover, i do have a band floating around somewhere.
Image

Spat BDU's. Patches on order
Image

And lastly for now is a picture of my ugly mug wearing my lovely new BDU's
Image

I should be ordering my armour from Chef very soon.

Patches have arrived:
Image

Got them off ebay since patches and pins never returned my email so wasn't going to risk placing a order then losing my money.
I will be picking up a US flag patch from a friend of mine some time this month as he has a spare.

Since i appear to have lost weight since i ordered my BDU's i have got a belt off ebay. After doing some research and using the handy dandy search button on here i went for a US ARMY GI SOLDIER TROUSER BELT.
I'll post up pictures off it.

I don't think i'll be ready for LFCC, still need to get the armour ordered. - side note: Should be doing that next week with any luck.

Going to aim to have it all done for Preston.

Picked up my Armour and helmet kit off Chef last weekend and i am beginning to start to trim it.
I've also ordered off Chef a Ab pad so that will be with me shortly. Plus i picked up my correct US flag patch off a friend of mine.

You don't need armour to attend a Drop.

Looks good. Nice find on the T-shirt. I can sympathize with not wanting to do a drop until you have armor. It's just not the same when you're "that guy."

Have you got two right sided shoulder arches there?

Wasn't long ago that I got the big box from Chef, it's a great feeling when you start to get things trimmed and painted :)

Cheers,
Doug

He has...

Small packing malfunction. Must kick the stores department.

That's being sorted as we speak.

Yep all sorted.
I'm making some cracking progress and have the greaves all but finished, well apart from the painting side of it.

Quick question. For the base coat should i paint it green or black?

Doesn't necessarily need a base coat.

Give the plastic a slight key with a bit of scotchbrite (think Brillo pad) and then just paint on.

If you are going to base coat it. Use green.

I would pop into halfords and grab a couple of spray tins of there green camo paint. Use that as a all over base coat it will save you alot of time and work and give the other paint something to adhere too .

Thanks for the help. Yeah that first attempt sucked so i sanded it all off and sprayed the whole lot black.
This helped me space out everything, then i actually used the reference images on here to get the whole thing looking a lot better.
