Advertising is a contentious issue too. How would you prove where you've advertised? Some museums, I'm sure, advertise online only - how do you prove that? Link today, gone tomorrow... We spoke about 'invitation only' galleries amongst collectors so advertising in a local newspaper would be pretty damn pointless. But for £15 or so, a bargain for sure.
advertising could be a simple thing of the lot to do.
If collectors that wanted to go down this route banded together they could easily set up a small museums association.
By running a website for the association, collections that have been turned into museums could be advertised on the website. i'm not advocating you put up an address for every one, but a geographical location like 'High Wycombe, Bucks' or 'Harrow, West London' could be posted with a contact number of email so you can invite interested parties to view your museum and then give them the exact address.
An association could also help with insurance and compliance with any legislation
