The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I think we defo need an AE to be run.

Last year's relatively poor turnout was likely due to local events and the fact that a Sci-Fi related weekend at the NSC had not long passed.

If the Sci-Fi/Movie mania weekend is given the priveledge of being the only one (in terms of Genre) in a 2 or 3 month period and timed so that it doesn't clash with popular local fixtures, I bet the attendance levels will be higher.

Fraz's range was immensly popular last year. I would bet we could expand it a little to allow a little movement (Like moving forward and ducking behind a barrel or something) and a larger selection of targets. Perhaps even someone in a bug suit or similar?

Bug Hunts are a must. The kids loved them.

Love the idea of a large exibition. But we need to remember to lay on plenty of activities for the kids. Realy push the boat out this time, get a name out for the event.

humm just an idea, how about on the bug hunt, there's some hidden alien eggs. if they find them during the course of the bug hunt they get a mystery prize, covered in goo. :P just a thought. the eggs would have to be well hidden though.

Anything left to be found is difficult/impossible, as the bug hunts are carried out in the main hall, which has the regular public walking around in it before/during/after the bug hunts.

bah dam you and your logic PVB!!! :P
but fair enough, it would be difficult to do. I was thinking along the lines of plain closed people hiding the stuff. but you're right, it more than likely wouldn't work, or some kid would spot people up to something.

at the last NSC we had our own area to set up our tables etc....if we could get another area....how about a hive? have aliens eggs etc....we could lead the kids in there and have that Aliens jump out.. and Marines have to capture it? 8)

HIve would be nice but whatever we build would need to be easily made and taken down, without leaving marks...

As well as cheap, unlss your going to finance it yourself.

Another consideration is something that is essentially freestanding as you can't guarantee a particular location in NSC.

What we need is some sort of backdrop. Colony corridor or Hive.

One or more of those freestanding collapsible convention display walls would be ideal.

you mean like the star wars guys had? a backdrop of the death star corridor that kind of thing.... but we have a colony corridor....
though if we knew in advance where we would be in the NSC we could build a ' air lock' section from plywood or something, build it in sections a put it together when we get there....
