The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I know this is O.T. but it's UK related so I posted it in here.

A friend of mine has what used to be NTL; Virgin Media, and so currently can't get the Sky One channel to view 'Lost'.

I normally record it for him on my DVD recorder and drop a disc round every week. As I'm away for a few more weeks is there anyone that could record the next few episodes of the current season (4?) for him?

Drop me a PM or email if you can help, and thanks in advance. :)

Harry

I think he'd prefer to watch it in good quality on a proper TV set.

tvlinks.co.uk used to have the episodes but of course the site has gone now.

If anyone knows of a site that has it online I have a friend in the UK who is looking also. She gets the DVD's once they are out but can't wait.

So no one can record the next few episodes for me?

I'll settle for VHS and convert them to DVD myself.

I used to get them from one of two places:

http://www.tvtorrents.com/

or

http://www.torrentspy.com/

The rips are usually decent quality, although sometimes the audio was a little out of sync, but that doesn't happen with some DVD players, so YMMV, etc.

Ahhhhhhhhh, torrents.
Normally I wouldn't help someone do this, but I know they buy the DVD's so I don't feel guilty ;)

Thank you

So you can't go to the abc website in the UK and watch them online like we can over here?
I'm guessing they lock out international IP addresses :(

That's right, Tony, we just get a message saying "Programmes not viewable outside of the United States."

So much for the 'special relationship'. :x

Andy's right about the HD downloads, they work great when burnt to dvd
and I've seen every series this way so far since Channel 4 'LOST' out
to Sky for broadcast rights. Then I pass 'em on to our own Alien Queen to watch.

I never understood what was "wrong" with people downloading episodes of TV shows.
It's not like you can't record them off air anyway.

I usually DL stuff, then if the DVD package is worth the money ( ie "has some decent extras, especially commentary tracks" ) will buy it and delete the files ASAP.

Some shows I would even pay for bare-bones DVD sets - I say "would" because I spent hundreds on M*A*S*H with no extras, only for them to release a huge box set with special features exclusive to that set.
What a great reward for my loyalty, huh? :)

TO THE BIT TORRENT MOBILE!

I'd much rather buy the dvd than download it but aint always poss.I'll stop buying dvds when they stop selling them as for downloading ,i don't have a prob with it ,though i think its rather naughty to make money off it.I wouldn't be a genuine Adobe customer if it wasn't for pirate software,in fact i probably wouldn't be costuming now if it wasnt for pirate software(i got into costuming after getting into fanfilms). So piracy isn't all bad.
If films etc were released sooner it would cut it down some. Some titles seem to take forever to hit dvd(South park boxsets for example.i own 1-4,5 came out recently in the UK yet its upto season 12 )

If I ever did get busted for DLing pirate material, I'd have to give Alanis a call, as right now my DVD collection is hovering around the 860 mark, counting box sets as single items :)
